Love this thing! I have heard the same thing about port timing on the 900...
either way a 900 in an FX is crazy and you did a killer job transplanting it.

nice build step thru...interesting tray mod. Could that 'rail' be used for an adjustable foothold, within the gunwale tunnel?

I read this years ago, brought a smile to my face! If you want to go bigger why not keep the 900 and just freshen the top end up with some larger pistons and a little more aggressive port work. You said the groupk work was a bit mild and when you snapped the rod I think it was just the motors way of saying make me bigger!!!

@special fx could you give me a little more info on the driveshaft convo? i see you are using the std Yami midshaft housing with the kawi driveshaft? was there some different (sized internally) bearings needed for this to fit? if so do you have the Bearing Numbers? was the kawi shaft long enough or did your have to shorten it? kind regards!.. i have a similar mission on my hands also..

So, it's been 7 years and this ski has served me very well. It's absolutely the most reliable setup I've ever had......so I thought after 7 years, it's time to shake it up a little!

It's going to get a mildly built 1100 engine, and a Polaris 148mm pump conversion. I've slowly started gathering and modifying parts for the build. The 1100 requires a larger headpipe/manifold opening than the factory pipe I use on my 900 setup can handle, so I'm modifying a stock 1100 pipe to fit. I also converted it to a center bleed pipe to make the plumbing clean.

More pics to come as the project progresses........

This was an extremely innovative build back in the day and i thought about experimenting with a 900/ bpipe arrangement. Did you ever do any comparison to see just how much better the set up was over the stock 900 pipe?
