Custom/Hybrid Footholds-Yes, it's time for another thread! Padding, show off your trays, etc.#bestfootholdsthread

Do you have a build thread, Rosie? Seems like you ask a lot of questions, and it would probably be more organized if it was in one thread.

@Jhucke My questions benefit more than just me, and this thread is all about footholds. A topic like this is better organized in one thread. No need for a build thread.

Definitely not just talking about this thread..
In the past month, I've started 8 different threads, that are basically irrelevant to each other. One about footholds, one about bilge pumps, one about motor mounts, one about thru hull adhesives, one quick question about 5200 and rivets, and one about tapping a head. Quite a few of those threads helped quote a few other people. Is there a reason for you to be a dick to me about it? It's not the first time for you. I don't appreciate it, and I don't understand why you've got beef with me lately. I try to be helpful around here, not piss people off.

Exactly.. Roseand you speak as if you've been doing this for 10's of years. In reality, I don't think you know if you are pitching or catching half the time.
I haven't either, but I definitely know when to just shut my mouth and do what has already been done hundreds of times. Especially with the superjet...

Sorry for "dicking" you too hard, lol.. I'm just saying, make a build thread, ask questions there.. So much clutter

I wouldn't read your build thread about putting holds in a square and don't think it's necessary to make a thread for it either. I am turfing a ski with holds and enjoy pictures for ideas on heel stops and such. Keep em coming

X3^..some of us aren't veterans to the sport, and I love threads such as these simply to pull ideas from for builds, turf combos, padding, heel blocks etc. there are a ton of "how to" on footholds, but I've never really found on like this with pictures of turf/holds, really helps with ideas, wish it had been started a month or so sooner so I could have seen it before I did my holds..

Those are some big holds! I just measured tom21s holds and they measure 5 inches wide from the outside of your foot to the ledge that extends into the tray. Pretty big too, and I'll be extending them more with padding when it comes to turfing.
Honestly don't think you need to unless you are doing huge tricks. For recreational freestyle if you shape the pad to fit your feet right you may want the extra tray room more than the extra foothold. IMHO that is the only downside to my Tom's or any other similar style is missing some tray room.

I'm almost always in my footholds, so I'm not worried about tray space really. My old toby footholds extended into the tray as much as Toms and I didn't have a problem with them. Toms don't have much of a ledge since they go so deep into the gunwales. I'm gonna shape my padding according to my feet too, so it shouldn't be a problem either way.

What you gonna use to fill the tray? 2 part or the HD pink stuff
Hd pink Eps foam. Those pics are just after I installed thru hull tubes and sealed all inserts and thru hull tubes with West systems gflex. The pump inserts look messy because I threw some cloth over them since I had some excess gflex on them. Hopefully I start on the footholds in the next few weeks.

I'm having to do the same right now on a friends ski. He cut the entire tray out! I mean all of it now I have to put it back with holds an foam. Taking all the bottom out makes it much more if a pain. Worse part is his foam was dry :(
