Yep! I'm not real worried about it. Worst case scenario I have to add another insert in later. But Matt has been fine with his so I should be too

Well, there are several much worse case scenarios...

A single strap failing suddenly can damage parts. It can leak exhaust into the hull stopping you from riding in. You could sink, or have other damage from towing, water ingestion and what not. You could have oil exposure in your hull requiring significant sanding into that finish to get good adhesion.

I figure the worse case scenario being that i have to redo the job being bad enough to do it right the first time, but i also realize thats often not the worst case scenario.

I cant say that your part will fail but after almost loosing much less valuable boats to minor weaknesses, i try to minimize my future risks.

I highly doubt a broken strap would do that. If the strap broke, the box wouldn't be able to move far up and down due to how tight it is in the hull, and the b pipe coupler can only flex so much too. Even without a strap, the waterbox is secured very well with the exhaust hose circuit. Plus, I'd sure be able to hear the rattling. These straps have been going for 20+ years and still seem perfectly fine. You can also hook two straps to one anchor though as well. Could always do that.

So I figured the exhaust hose I had was big enough, but it's not. With a ton of heat, I can get the already stretched out end that was clamped for years over, but with a freshly cut side there's no way it'll slide on even when close to melting and using lube . I'm gonna need 2.5 inch diameter hose. Crap.

Yes I can. I have a 20 inch aluminum pipe I was gonna use to extend the hose anyways

image.jpg 2 of the smaller OE type used black hoses with angle cuts are 2.250 the rest are either 2.5 or 2.5 now, all these fit on 2.5 pipe.

With an h20 box with uncut outlet I'd think you'd might be making a straight shot from bulk head pipe to your water box, dunno ?

Yeah with the h2o box it's a straight shot so I don't need angle cuts at all. Just straight pieces. I'm gonna measure the lengths I need and see what hose I can find online.. I already spent 20$ on my aluminum pipe and don't want to let it go to waste. Unless of course you have an idea on what aluminum pipe costs per foot at a metal place..

The new in wrapper 8 inch piece is the longest I have. 3 inch peice below it that's 11 inches total. You got a 20, with 1.5 inch lost at each couple point that's coverage for a 25 inch span approx...

Ya you really need to know the span. Let me see if I remember the place I get the hose

I forgot to mention before, but I used west systems g flex with black die for the inserts. And yes of course I sanded and prepped everything very well.
I can't believe I never did this before, or maybe it's because you can't do it on other hulls, but keep your waterbox attached to your chamber when you install it. Just bend it and you're good to go. I was happy when I realized that because that hose is a tight fit, and not fun to slip on inside the hull.

the gap is there because I was using a larger hose for mock up to make it easier to get the correct length and angle I needed, then I cut my correct diameter hose.
I also cleaned up the old yamabond around my starter and prepped it so I could reinstall it with fresh yamabond and not just depend on the o ring to seal it. I don't want any water getting in at all. Yamabonded the stator grommet too. I don't feel like explaining the embarrassing story, but I ended up having to replace the case bushing that I just replaced a few rides ago. I got a minty differentbendix installed as well, and a beautiful flywheel done by @speedysprocket of course!
This plate tool is badass for torquing down flywheels too.

This eyelet for the limiting rope I'm using is gonna double as my steering stopper. I was gonna just use the nut at the stop but I'm gonna find some rod or square stock and cut it because otherwise I get too much throw for the cable no matter how I setup the cable ends.

Nothing special, but I cut up some stainless to use as backing plates for the pole bracket.

With the end cut straight, this hose is still too short. I'd say the length needs to be over 3 feet.

Yea but you could use any aluminum tube that size. I just randomly had a nice full length set of RRP tubes.
Yeah for sure. I'm just gonna see what's the cheapest route. Hopefully I don't have to put my tube I bought to waste

Found 3 feet of aluminium tube for 20$ish shipped. If that and those pieces Harbor has work, that'd be sweet. I'll do some measuring tomorrow.
