Is the seal pressed in further than the shoulder on the shaft that the prop hub or washer rest against, or is your washer making contact with the surface of the seal

I think the washer is making contact with the surface of the seal

And for what it's worth this pump supposedly was ran on a ski the way it's setup already...

Maybe the previous owners prop bottomed out before it made contact with the stator so that there was no washers necessary.

It's amazing how something you thought was going to take a half hour ends up turning into hours.. Lol
I kept tightening the prop down on the spacers and the seal stopped going in further though.. So Idk what to do now

Press it in with something

I feel like the torque of a wrench threading down a spacer would be enough to push in a seal.. I don't want to bottom something out and break it. I'm terrified of that

If you think your current assembly is wonky you should just do yourself a favor and order some new bearings and seals, then disassemble pump and rebuild with new. That way you can sleep at night because lord knows this will keep you up.

This pump has less than 10 hours on it supposedly, and it looks and spins like new. Bearings and seals are good. Not gonna rebuild it. I just need to figure out and fix the issue.

Plus I don't have time or money for that, I gotta try this new pump Sunday

*****Patiently awaiting Rosie's stripped driveshaft/midshaft thread to follow this Monday*****

Or maybe even a post in the Solas mag pump ate my bearings thread.

Hey dumbass, I properly aligned my shiit good enough that even though grease got washed out of the splines my splines were in perfect shape. Oh and this pump already had the tolerances checked and everything. How about saying something constructive instead of being a major douchebag?

Thanks brah. I'll just keep being a dumbass.

For a guy who wants to be an engineer, your critical thinking and problem solving skills are not so hot.

You post like this is an urgent emergency to get your pump together tonight, meanwhile your lake has ice on it.

Sorry bud, I'm recovering from a medical emergency that caused me to drop out of college and I'm still getting back into the swing of things and not always able to think straight. I guess I shouldn't ask for help and rather just continue to frustrate myself instead.

The pond I rode on has ice. Not my Lake.

Bearings are like what, $30? Sounds like something isn't right, why play the guessing game? Just take it apart and rebuild it correctly with new bearings and seals. Everytime I half ass something, I just have to fix it later. Just do it right from the start. Whomever sold it either didn't have this problem, or did and didn't tell you.

Well I did find my issue. Thanks schmidty :)
This isn't my pump but it's a pump for reference. Now I see what's meant by the shoulder the washer sits on. Looks like all I'll have to do is push the seal in further and worst case scenario the driveshaft has to come forward a little more to expose that lip too. But I'll try the seal first. I should be able to find some pipe or a spacer the size of the seal race and cut it down, then put it in between the prop and seal and tighten it down. Therefore the pressure will. Be distributed evenly and be nice and easy. It's my first time working with a mag pump, I wasn't sure what exactly to expect.

See. There ya go. Stepping back and thinking about the problem for a minute instead of writing ten posts about it.

You were given the answer twice before I posted being a "dumbass"

Schmidty said press the seal in and eastcoastjumper said press the driveshaft forward from the tailcone side.

Don't over think it. It was either one problem or another. Shaft not in far enough or seal not in far enough. Only takes 1 hammer to solve both!!!! Lol
