Back from the painters. I'm liking it. Gold mostly, changes as you walk past.
Pole and nose-piece a bit darker. (I think they ran out of paint) lol.
But I'm pleased. Didn't pay a lot. Can't expect perfection.

NOTE: for those that might use an X-Metal pole bracket with a stock sj pole.....
It will not work without some modification. In my case a sawzall solved the problem.

Maybe not. lol.
Having had a stock hull and hood for so long, I've not had to deal with the "location" of hood hooks. The existing holes in the hood were not perfect, but lined up pretty well ........without the hood seal installed. This is why the seal has been clamped down on there for 3 days.
Took my time. Reset everything multiple times. Got it where it was best, made some pencil marks and took the hood off.
Dammit man! Half a hole. Impossible to drill with the equipment I have.
So, slots were created. Some of those "push the drill bit sideways" kinda slots.
Yes, I started tiny and worked up to size.....But....
Anyway, the CF hooks cover the slots so it looks just fine.

Then I went on to the x-metal bracket with a stock pole issue.
The sawzall did just fine removing 3/8 to 1/2" of those triangle things that stick up. (if you have that bracket and an x-metal pole, I'm curious about the purpose of what I just chopped off)
Those things would not let the pole drop into place by about 1/4".

Now I lay the pole in place. All good.....but the lowered bracket drops the hole centers enough that the pole bolt will slide in but the washer and head will not clear the hull. Dammit Man! Brand new paint!
Not the end of the world. I intend to loosen the bracket enough for the bolt head and washer to clear; install the pole and tighten it all down together.
This actually works out so that I can use whatever play there is to make sure that the pole lays straight.

However, before that I need to do the hole location and drilling for the nose piece. Not hard. Just a lot easier without the pole in the way.

All in all, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

THose angled things are the stops for full extension. Only used when working on the ski.

And welcome to the world of lowered pole brackets. The bolt doesn't fit if you bolt the bracket down first.

Stock is nice cause it goes together like butta. Start changing things and add time to assembly.

Still looks good either way!

I figured they were for something like that...wasn't sure.
It all worked to the plan except for the bolt.
I had to shorten it a bit to accomadate the nose piece. Also had to use quite a few washers to take up space.

Damaged the paint. That was quick! Now it has some character. lol. Impact screw gun slipped while installing the nose piece.

Got a bunch of stuff back from blasting.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks Tem. I'm no expert where body work is concerned, but I did the best that I could on your hood. I must have sanded it & primed it 6 or 8 times.
Somebody with that talent would have been done pretty quickly.
I'm very happy with the end result. Just don't inspect it too closely!

I didn't know you got a 771... Thought you just ported and fresh top end. You're going to love this thing! Until then it's a nice trailer queen
It's not a 771.
It's 737. The decal is not true. The builder put it on there as a prank. I left it. 83mm pistons. Stock stroke.
