Custom/Hybrid Gen2 BOB build... Finally...

And we got 2 Bullet X2s in the shop full gel coat inside and out and they are huge looks like the bob can fit inside the ski. And they tip the scale at the same weight and that's with a big fixed steer hood. The one we are cutting up was 108.

My bob weighed in at 130 and my other 2 buddies weighed 140..... in case anyone didn't see that in my thread - Gen 2 an honest review. Another friend of ours just got his which was suppose to be 100lbs and it came in at around 125 I believe? Either 125-127, but yea not on the mark.

Dang I never Put mine on a scale and I asked for a reinforced flatwater layup. Oh well, still rips...some thing are better not knowing haha

Im sorry but you pay for a light wieght hull the first thing you do is scale the thing when you get it.
Its like all these guys who buy ADA heads and then dont do a comp test before and after. Well ADAs website was wrong for the kawi 800s and the domes they listed to put a motor at 180 in fact put the motors to 150. SO all these guys but the head bolt it on and make the same power or less than a stock head. You always check what you buy.

The last fiberglass i ordered from the ski clinic was 107 lbs with hood and pump shoe and we ordered it for flatwater.

If you want Chris I have a Brand new Visual Carbon in stock, 78lbs with hood !!!!!!!!!!! RTS

ADA specs are with no porting cylinder. The higher the exaust port is raised, the lower the compression is.

I agree but in my case I didn't have my scales handy when i got the hull, I use race car setup scales and they were being used to setup a race car. Now almost a year later what good will it do me? I know when I hit the gas it goes brap and will do roundy rounds and loopdy loops.
I guess at the end it'd be nice for the ski clinic to weight it before they send them out, seems reasonable

No :):):):), but im talking on stock sxr motors they are wrong. DO a search there are many cases, and i myself have seen it on 4 motors. This thread is about Chris build not for me to teach you how to order domes from ADA.

IMG_0710.jpgAll i know is ,took mine out yesterday for its maiden voyage test sesh, and THIS THING FLAT OUT RIPS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .you would be better off putting your scale away and grabbing your "A" game ,your going to need it. BOB is a bad ass for sure ! ..the way i see it is,Derrick knows strength wise were these standard lay-ups need to be. if he built you a "super-light"glass hull ,you would probably be bumbing when it starts having structural issues ,which would you rather deal with ? that freak in the picture is a glass hull ?? my BOB went right together with ease(less than 30 hrs start to finish)and i'm SUPER impressed with Derricks hull.i put a limited sxr motor in mine and this things a BEAST ! it literally feels like a 1 liter in his hull,so i would ride it first before you become disappointed about anything ....

Back to the build, that thing is gonna rip with the setup that's going in it. I wouldn't let the weight bring ya down either. It will flip, roll, under flip, ect...
Atleast mine does with a SS827 and I'm sure it weights more, you will enjoy it

I'm just throwing my .02 out there then shutting up. If my :):):) weighed that much after being told a weight wayyy lighter, I'd go absolute nuts.

After a bit of confusion on my end, here's the break down on weights,

Standard Hull: 85-90lbs hand laid glass
Standard Hood (with seal): 8lbs
Carbon Hull: 75lbs hull
Carbon Hood (with seal): 6lbs hood
Surf Hull: 100+lbs hull (varies upon layup schedule)
Surf Hood: 10lbs hood
Ride Plate w/ hardware: 1lbs
Footpods, adjuster plates & hardware: 4.5lbs
Full ski turf, underpadding & glue: 6lbs
Bow eyes, hood catch and versa plug: 2lbs

Opt. Reinforcemnts: 5lbs
Stock tank pod: 1.5lbs
Kart tank pod: .5lbs
Jaz tank pod: 1lbs

OP's hull:
Standard Hull: 85-90lbs hand laid glass
Standard Hood (with seal): 8lbs
Ride Plate w/ hardware: 1lbs
Footpods, adjuster plates & hardware: 4.5lbs
Full ski turf, underpadding & glue: 6lbs
Bow eyes, hood catch and versa plug: 2lbs
Opt. Reinforcemnts: 5lbs
Stock tank pod: 1.5lbs
Total so far: 114 - 119lbs (give or take a couple pounds)

The 85lbs is for the bare fiberglass hull, but our hulls come standard with all of the options and add-ons that other hulls do not. You could have spent a few thousand more $$ on a different hull thats 85lbs, but it wouldn't come with all the add ons that we include (pump shoe, turf, ride plate, tank pod, etc. etc.)

So yes, our shipping weights are higher than our competitors, however we include many more add ons with our hulls that you would have to add later if you were to purchase from another manufacture. If you take out all the add-ons that we include that our competitors don't, you will have 2 similar shipping weights. We've built many hulls that had the same lay up schedule as the OP's hull, and RTR they weighed in between the 265-280lbs mark.

We are more than capable of building ultra-light hulls, however we add many different reinforcements in our production hulls to add strength to the weak-points we've found over time (back side from rolls, bottom deck at bulk head from 360s), so that us and our clients can have the piece of mind that their hulls wont break in half on a failed flip.

We aren't advertising something that we don't sell.. the hulls are about 85lbs, as discussed in the emails. However, the total weight is much higher than expected because of the add-ons that we include.

Since we have a few RTR builds waiting to be assembled, I went ahead and weighed everything to give a rough idea of a weight:

Battery - 12.5lbs
Battery Box - .5lbs
Intake Grate - 2.5lbs
Water box - 5.5lbs
Midshaft Housing - 2.5lbs
Steering, Throttle, Trim Cables & S/S Switch - 2.5lbs
(4) Motor Mounts - 1.5lbs
All Hardware - 3.5lbs
Head Pipe (Factory B) - 6lbs
B-Pipe Chamber - 4lbs
X-Metal Pole w/ Bracket & steering - 16lbs
X-Metal Chin Pad - .5lbs
OEM Super Jet Tank - 5lbs
Pump w/ X-Metal trim - 14.5lbs
701cc Motor w/ carbs, electrical & exhaust manifold - 83lbs
Exhaust Hose - 2.5lbs

All Parts total: 162.5lbs
Hull: 114lbs
Approx. RTR Weight: 276.5lbs
Same number we get on just about every single RTR unit that we produce.
