Don't have to worry about it with a plain jane or high dollar 1911, either.

I know a guy with a kimber ultra carry that has had feeding problems since day one. This could be from not being broken in though this guy doesnt shoot much. He doesn't feel like he got his moneys worth.

I honestly think it just needs 500 roundballs through it to loosen it up. Its an intermittent problem ive only actually seen it fail to feed twice.

I went to Bass Pro in Nashville today to pick up some 44mag ammo and thought I was going to go postal. Not ONE dam live round of 44mag in the entire store!!! WTF are people thinking??? How many people actually own a 44mag? I had the ammo I was looking for at the counter ready for my arrival this AM and when I got there they looked at me as if I were crazy!!! They said that the email corespondance I had was automatically generated from corporate and that they could not hold ammo and that the particular stuff I ordered had not been stocked at the Nashville store in several months!!! ARGH

Back to reloading. I bought enough Winchester 296 powder and Hornady 240gr XTP JHP to load 300 rounds for 150.00.

Am I the only one that is sick and tired of going to gun stores only to find all the live round ammo long gone, and IF there is any the price is through the roof??? If our president would STFU for 5 minutes all this crap would calm down and get back to normal. Problem is, when he opens his mounth, the poop starts flowing freely!!!

Got a pair of these not to long ago STI TAC 5.0 in stainless. Pretty happy with the lineup as I have shot their single stack products before, good ole Texas guys build them. I have yet to take them out due to an injury at work. Not sure if they will replace my CZ P-01's, we will seeTacticalSS_5_1a.jpg

I'll remind you of the ammo shortage of 2008 and 2009 that took place entirely without Obama saying anything about guns at all.
And the recent run on guns and ammo started pretty much immediately after Sandy Hook, no matter what anyone in political office said.

Matt I beleive the run on ammo and firearms of 2008-09 was because the people that were doing the buying knew obama's stance on firearms. At least thats what people I associate with were thinking. He was very open about it while in the Illinois legislature. If I remeber correctly he had authored or co-authored 2 bills to ban manufacturing in the state. I will have to check on that. Anyone here buying firearms in the early 90's? Wow it was rough then when the AWB bill came up.

It's pretty wild. I've been on the hunt for 9mm and .45acp and its a joke. I have email notifications set up with a variety of online vendors hoping Ill get the scoop on some.

Is what sucks so bad is, I'm not stocking up for a apocolypse or some half cocked crazy poop , I simply want to get REAL good with my 44mag before deer season starts this fall !!!

I feel like I have been 'branded' because I own and shoot a firearm. The really awesome part is that it's not just handgun ammo. I can't find poop for my 6.5 Creedmore rifle either!!!

And within about 5 minutes of Sandy Hook who was on television vowing to ban guns causing the rush of Americans to go buy every last item gun related known to man kind?
just sayin......
still think your one of the smart guys, but, obama is a moron and we all know it.......

I know this is a hand gun thread, but I think the market is about to get back to pre insanity prices. I've seen two AR's for under 1000 at dealers here. Gander Mountain had a DPMS Oracle for $750 yesterday. Of course it sold out but still its a good indicator.

Also I'm currently waiting on my new pocket pistol,a Kahr CM40 from cheaper than dirt. They had it for $399.

Other than AR's I haven't seen any price changes on local sales at all. Availability is another thing entirely. Both gun stores near me got cleaned out around Christmas and their displays are still empty. Prices online have gone thru the roof but if you contact retailers directly, the prices are still the same. For instance, Ruger 17 round mags were going for $55 to $75 on ebay and I was able to get 3 direct from Ruger for $38 a piece. I had to wait 3 weeks to get them but it was worth it.

I had gathered a 1200 rounds of 9mm before the rush and stopped shooting once I dropped under 900. I managed to find another 500 rounds in the last 2 months but it took a lot of luck and some good timing on my part. Walmart is getting ammo deliveries almost every day but they have guys standing around waiting on the deliveries so it goes pretty quick. I just happened to get in on one day and snagged 400 rounds. They had another 1000 rounds but I figured I better leave some for others. Started shooting again lately and my stash is dropping fast. I get free gun rentals with my range membership so I started trying new guns with different calibers as much to save my stash as to try new things. Range ammo is actually fairly well priced but even they are having a problem getting it. All they had yesterday was .40, 357, and 38 special.

Last time I checked, reloading supplies were just as scarce. Are they starting to catch up again? I have been collecting all my brass just in case it ever comes to that.

Even if you dont reload, save your brass and sell it on gunbroker. People pay good money for brass.

Right now I'm only shooting my .22's until ammo prices come back to reality... and I can replace what I shoot. I have seen ARs actually staying in stock at stores here, which makes me think we are not too far from inventory coming back on ammo and other stuff.

I would love to shoot the 22 more than my 9mm. When we first bought our handguns, I stocked up on 9mm but only picked up 550 rounds of 22LR. I tried to buy a bucket of 1600 rounds for $98 but my wife said it was "excessive" and talked me out of it. I haven't seen 22LR on the shelf since then. Hindsight is 20/20 but who figured we would see a shortage of 22LR when we have been able to buy it for $20/500 for the last 25+ years.

I know I love my .22s more than any of my guns and it sucks knowing i have to wait to shoot until I can find a mass quantity of ammo to stock back up on. Hell I went to using 22 short and loading those tiny things one at a time into my 1022 just tot conserve my 22lr

I have been looking up the Sig 226's since last night and found quite a price range. The standard model starts around $850 where the competition model I posted above goes for $1600. A .22LR conversion kit is available for around $275. I really like the idea of investing in a gun that will allow you to swap barrels and shoot different calibers.
