Hand guns

Yeah man they give them away in TX as long as youre not a felon. Kel Tec 9 no holster with belt clip to get me to my (hopefully) truck. MattE, my son machines the frames so you now know who to blame lol.

Hah, nice! I had an LCP (.380) before when they first came out. I didn't like shooting it much, but it was such a good carry gun for shorts or as a secondary.

Quick question about carry permits in other states: Here in WA, my concealed permit bypasses the 5-day waiting period on purchasing handguns. Is this common in other states? It's really handy. Just fill out the paperwork and walk out with it.

Matt in Texas there is no wait, just a questionnaire and a phone check. The CHL bypasses the paperwork. The phone call takes a little longer if you hold a federal license or are PPO/contractor. So the answer to your question is yes it speeds up the process in Texas a little. Texas you can walk in and buy all the guns you want at once as far as I know.

In iowa you are required to have a permit to purchase handguns or a concealed carry permit to walk out with your handgun at time of purchase or to even purchase one at all

That surprises me. I would've figured Iowa as a Bill of Rights state. That's very sad that the residents allowed that to happen.

In WA, it's a mandatory 5 day wait between purchase and being able to walk out the door with it (for handguns). Long guns don't have a waiting period. The CWP/CPL/whatevercrazyacronym bypasses the 5 day wait.

Hey fellas, didn't read all 35 pages so forgive me if these guns have been discussed. a little background, as far as handguns go I've only shot glocks (.45 .40 and my 9mm) and a 1911. I have a glock 26 but the grip is a little too thick for my carrying tastes. Its a great gun and I'll be keeping it but im in the market for something a little bit thinner so I can conceal it better with my small body type. Im a thin guy and don't really wear super baggy clothes. I want another 9mm (not looking for a debate on what caliber to buy, I've been through that a dozen times - ill be buying other calibers later). Held a s&w shield and it felt nice so i'm considering those. Havent shot one though. I really like the way walthers look and the reviews they get, in particular the P5, PPKS, and P38. The PPS looks a little awkward but gets good reviews. Thoughts on these?

Yeah up until about 2 years ago iowa was a may issue state when it came to ccw and it was up to the county sherrif whether you could get your permits. Since then it has changed to a shall issue state where they dont have a choice as long as you meet their requirements. Alot of ccw permits have gone out since then i got mine after taking a 20 question t/f test on the internet of which you could get 5 wrong and still pass. One form and 3 days later my ccw came in the mail. I wont be worried til obama says if i like my gun i can keep it.

I was all set and ready to buy a G19, and then I shot and IWB holstered the PPS. I followed up by going online and reading a lot about the PPS, and I went that route. I still plan to get a Glock 9mm, probably still the G19, but for my primary CARRY, I felt the PPS was the gun for me. I just liked the slimmer profile for IWB and I felt comfortable shooting it - plus, it has a good reputation.

BTW, if you go that route and want an IWB holster, I really like the White Hat maxtuck (pretty much the same thing as the Cross Breed supertuck). It securely hold the weapon, and it's very comfortable and functional. - http://www.whitehatholsters.com/iwb-holsters/

I don't carry but if I did I would carry one of the Kimber Ultra Carry pistols. You can also go to an indoor range and rent a bunch of different guns to see which one you like the most.

Find a good local criminal attorney to put on retainer and during consultation ask him how he feels about it. I am a fan of 1911 style, but believe that they require ongoing practice and training for safe operator deployment. As I am unable to train weekly due to injury 1911's are not kept in condition 2 storage .

My wife carries the shield9 and loves it. Its slim but its not micro tiny. For the money its really hard to beat. I haven't shot a XDS9 yet, but I didn't care for the XDS45 at all... but i'm a 1911 guy...

Love, Want...

Perfect size. So pricie though. :17:

Yesssssir..... you have very good taste IMO...

I found the crimson trace grips to be useless in anything but low light conditions on my Ultra Carry.

Currently I have the pleasure of fondling a Super Carry Pro every day...
