I think I need to add a pellet gun to the arsenal.

Woman dies and 2 men injured in pellet gun shooting
By Dale Lezon | November 28, 2012 | Updated: November 28, 2012 8:06am

A woman was fatally shot with a pellet gun, and two men were injured at a home in north Houston early Wednesday morning.

The shooting occurred about 5:40 a.m. at the house at 1107 Neyland near Europa, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the woman, whose name was not released, died at the scene. The two injured men were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police said one of the men was in critical condition. The other man's condition was not released.

Police said details about the shooting were sketchy, but it appears the three were at the home when the gunfire erupted. The woman appeared to have been shot several times with the pellet gun. However it's unclear what led to the shooting.

My pellet gun (rifle) is badazz! Look BA too, scope and all. I wouldn't wanna get hit with that! I use it for the retarded squirrels that destroy chit.

Hey, let's talk ammo for a minute. What is your angle on carry ammo. I've been using full metal jacket just the typical or standard stuff you'd buy. I haven't carried hollow point. Any reason I should? I figure both are just as affective.

Oh lord...
Are you serious? I seriously think you're trolling right now.

FMJ is primarily a training round. You shoot the equivilant grain of the HP round you carry.

Reasons you shouldn't carry FMJ:
1. Lack of expansion. Because of its design, it will not slow down as much as a HP. So the energy is not fully transfered. Typically it will go through and through, which brings me to my next point.
2. You are responsible for the destination of your round. If you have to fire at someone, and the round does not stop inside them and hits someone beyond them, its on you. HP's open up and slow down.
3. Internal damage. A FMJ only punches holes, while a HP, by design creates jagged edges to do more internal damage and cause bleeding. Pistol rounds do not have the velocity to put someone on their ass like the movies make us believe. I don't know the stats, (I can find them if needed) but ultimately your pistol round will cause internal bleeding that will incapacitate your attacker. Unless you manage a head, spine or, heart injury.

Reason to carry FMJ:
Penetration. A FMJ will penetrate solid objects better than HP.

In my backup mags I stagger HP, FMJ, HP, FMJ etc... I figure if I need to go to my back up, i'm trying to defend myself against someone that I haven't been able to hit otherwise.

I keep 230gr Federal HST +P (Not hydrashock) in my carry weapon.

I currently have both my mags loaded up with target rounds but I plan to pick up an extra 17rd clip and a box of 25 HP's this weekend so I can set up separate target/defensive clips.

To all that stockpile ammo, do you stock 1000's of rounds of the cheap target FMJ's or do you stock HP's? If the zombie apocalypse truly happens, which is going to be more appropriate?

I generally stock 1000's of round of FMJ for practicing and what not. I only have a few hundred rounds of self defense ammo. The Hornady Critical Defense Ammo is the shiz

Sorry, this bothers me more than swimsuits on your head while wearing a wet suit....

To answer your question, I prefer to stock up on rifle ammo, which is typically FMJ.
I have a couple hundred HP for my pistols, but as Clint Smith said - “The only purpose for a pistol is to fight your way back to the rifle you should have never laid down.”

Pick your battles...and be thankful that such trivial nitpicking is possible.

Just confusing that you used both terms in the same sentence. Also the wetsuit/ swimsuit mention applied that I wasn't completely serious. I like posting pictures... not trying to start a battle.

Can you elaborate on what "...be thankful that such trivial nitpicking is possible." means?

Lol, Just saying you must not have much on your mind if trivial littles things like that bother you enough to post about it. I wish I had such problems

Were you the guy that brought up the use of engine vs motor a few months back?

No... I intentionally say motor because it irritates people who are hell bent that it should be engine :)

Its weird, I get bent about some stuff, and other stuff I do wrong just to troll.

The real irony is me using the word trivial towards your post while simultaneously posting in a zombie apocalypse thread. : biggrin:

Lol, I don't know about that but I did pick up a couple more 17rd "Mags" and a few hundred Hornady XTP's on the way home tonight.

Yeah, I was trolling a bit. Sometimes I ask a question to get some advise or another angle or clarity.

All the above answers were really good.

I also appreciate swapmeet's detail and clarity.

I liked the staggered rounds idea too. If someone's trying to break down a door to get to me, I like the idea that I don't have to wait for him to succeed before I can start shooting.
