Super Jet Homemade Handle Pole Project

Well our intent certainly isn't to stick it to anyone lol. We would like to keep the price as low as we can afford to go. The only person really making any money on this project will be the welder. The rest of us are in it for the experience of bringing a product to market. We are active in more than just jetskiing and the possibility of starting up a aftermarket components company would be very fun for us.

Very much agreed Night rider. Not to sway the topic too much, but I have every intention of making it look exactly like the render. I have a side hobby - call it sophisticated pumpkin chunkin' if you may. Here's an example of how I like to keep it looking alike though:

Damn, that is wicked.

You took something you had already build and make a computer rendering of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoping to have the first one made in a week or so.. Problem we are going to have is it got cold very quickly, it has already snowed! Testing is going to be hard as it means me getting in some very cold water.. Its not like I just want to ride around with it, I need to try to break it.

well I am just 15 min from Melbourne, so I know a few people with RN and squares (including me) that will have no problem with it, I ride all year. Or if you want, my sister lives in Philly, just give it to her, and she can bring it down here for thanksgiving ;)

The pole looks great. And the anticipated price seems fair...great compared to some others. There is a feature that most, if not all, AM poles lack. And it may be too late, or difficult to incorporate into your design.

Floatation.

A shortened stock pole is still foam filled. This helps right the ski when it gets away from you. AM's don't offer this. Helpful in surf.

Just a thought.

Really floaty chin pad...

I would be interested and even as a Build it kit. I have a tig and would have no prob welding it. It would save you time and even a little shipping.

All thoughts are taken into consideration... thats why we posted it here, I was actually thinking about it a few weeks ago when I read about people sinking their skis. I'm not sure how we could really get the foam in the pole since whatever you put in it would melt when welding. What may work is putting in small diameter thin tubing inside the large tubes to run the cables through then filling the large tubes with a liquid expanding foam. This would really be something you could do once receiving your pole if you wanted to, so it may not be something we will want to mess with. Keeping in mind it would add cost and most people are just going to want it for the least amount of money and may not care at all about the foam.

Something we can consider, not exactly sure what it would cost at this point, but if thats what you wanted to do we may be able to work something out.

Just as an update... We are still coming along with this project. We spent a little too much time this weekend working on the lathe and not enough time working on the pole. We have just about all the pieces cut out, just need to finish the top plate and we should be able to start welding. Taking a little longer then I expected, but with something this custom and since we are going to offer to the public we don't want to rush the proto. The production run will be cut using a waterjet, but the proto is going to be 100% done with hand tools and hand lathe so naturally its taking some time.
