But from what GP was saying ( if I understand him correctly) That is not a part that requires machining it just gets cleaned(blasted) and installed. the final check is atest fit in a case before assembly, like a spacer or washer would be. when would you ever check a part like that or need to? And that is what I am after. IS this something I should be looking for in the future, or a freak mishap or something even simpler?

I just hold my fingers out and look thru them at what I am measuring and then hold them ther and the look at the other part. Just like the Crusha you head guy from Kids in the Hall.

ending crank issues!!!

I really dont see what the confusion is here??????.It is a simple matter, let,s not make a big story about a simple problem.the orriginal crank we recieved had a defective labby on it!!!It was out of round from .0015-.0035 period! I took these measurments and they were correct. If nobody else could figure this out it's there problem.I found the problem most deffinetly!!!!Nobody wanted to own up to it tho?????let's put this matter to bed, I'm really wanting to forget about all of it.______________ later Ewok.:dunno:

The confusion is that unfortunately we can't find the OE Yamaha laby to be defective. However, we are always interested in learning more about crankshafts so I would like to invite you to our factory to show us your measuring techniques. The crankshaft is sitting hear on the floor of my office. If indeed your able to prove the laby is defective, SBT will refund your purchase price on the crankshaft and give you a couple of piston and ring sets (model and oversize of your choice). Either way, for your time and effort, I'll give you the complete gasket and oil seal kit you need, lunch, and gas money.

Let me know if your interested.

appreciate the offer....but we already made one trip down there...or if you want to be 100% proper about it....A trip was already made to SBT on my behalf.

the old crank didnt fit, the new one does. I checked the new one in my 3 OTHER sets of my cases and it fit the same in the freshly blasted cases vs. the un-prepped ones as well.

if you dont want to send me the pins and gaskets that were lost in direct result of this, then dont....It doesnt matter to me anymore

I just wanted to get to the bottom of what was wrong, as I occasionally build motors. I don't care who is right or wrong, I am just in it for the information. Sorry to cause a big "problem" , I'll call Unsolved Mysteries and let em know- Mystery Solved. It seems pretty plain to me what was wrong now.

I would take Greg up on that deal................ Showing he has nothing to hide.... and offering to give back also!!!!!!!!!!!!

i hear ya, I appreciate the offer.......but honestly, dollar for dollar..its not worth it to me...

when someone comes into my office with defective contact lenses, eyeglass lenses or whatever........i just fix it, or give a new one...sometimes I have to eat the cost, or the chair time....its just part of good customer service...

It's a shame your not interested. I was hoping to learn something new. After 10 years and 80,000 cranks, I thought I had seen it all. How about I up the ante; Show us the OE laby is defective and we will

1) give you an additional yamaha crank for free (no core required),

2) return your money for the one you bought and extend the fault free warranty for an additional two years,

3) give you the gaskets, oil seals, and pins you need,

4) give you a set of pistons and rings for the engine of your choice

5) and buy you lunch and pay for your gas.

That's an offer worth over $1,000 to show us what's wrong with this crank.

(BTW, after spending a few minutes with the crank and a micrometer this afternoon, my tech manager says that you have a decimal problem with your measurements.)

Hoping this new offer will bring you a few hours down the road to Clearwater,
