i made my own steering system and bought a rod of high strength aluminum (alloy 2024) for the bars. I got a rod with the thickest wall i could. I've only ran it for one year so far but i have no complaints.

I did this last year at wavedaze. if you over tighten your clamps it could ever so slightly dent the bar and make a weak point. if your bars are breaking flush with the clamp every time I would say its from over tightening (I didn't read the whole thread, maybe someone already suggested this)

Here is the only good thing that came from me breaking a set of bars... LOL
I didnt have time to buy a Gopro head strap mount online for my trip, so I made this up. It worked great snow boarding last weekend!
