You may suggest to his family to talk to the prosecutor's office. At least here in Utah there is a fund set up to help in these kind of situations - usually called Crime Victim Reparations. They can help even if there is not a case being prosecuted.

Yes there is a program like that in California. It is for victims of violent crimes who cannot pay there extreme high cost medical bills after being attacked. I have a friend who was saved by this program when he was attacked by mexican gangbangers. I can call him and get the name of the program.

I spoke with Taylor this morning, and since he's had absolutely no negative incidents in the last two days, they are going to start weaning him from some of the drugs which are helping keep him in the deep coma. They'll also do some more extensive neurological testing, and God willing, we'll see something good soon.

Local law enforcement are now taking this case very seriously as well. I am told they visited the hospital yesterday to examine Joe's hands and body for bruising to try and confirm the BS story that he struck the other guy. They found nothing - no scratches, brusies, etc. on his hands - just the nasty bruise around his left ear where he was struck by this creep. This fully supports eye witness accounts that JK never hit anyone.

Right now, I'm more concerned about his well being, but thank you very much for reminding us that there are Victim Assistance programs in place. I've researched it a bit, and it appears there's some "payee of last choice" assistance available for Joe as well as possibly his family, so I've forwarded the info to his brother Shawn.

Me too. Well being is all any of us are thinking about.

I was just adding to the earlier post. My friend was at the point were they were gonna stop service to him and they stepped in.

I hope the guy that hit him, broke his hand when he hit Joe.

the guy that did this to joe should have attempted murder charges filed on him. can't believe that the guy said joe hit him first. karma will catch up to him real soon and he will get what he deserves. sorry for the rant. Just keep on keeping on Joe.

I have been reluctant to post since I do not really know Joe. I have however kept him in my thoughts and prayers.


My Joe story:
I met him at the 05 Galveston ride, actually avoiding the cute, talented rider who I fully expected to have an ego and attitude that would suck the water out of the ocean.

How lucky I am that Joe came up to me to chat. What an incredibly nice person. ( Another life lesson not to judge others. ) and yes, I am the one that could not stop talking to Wayne about Joe's bunny hop over the couch.


Lisa, I know with your background and the care of all the doctors, the family is probably not lackng any information. As a matter of fact they are probably on information overload. I just want to mention that I have gone trough this with a loved one. (Careflighted critical condition, brain injury over a week in ICU in a coma on a resporator, later short term memory loss..) During this I was given some information that was very helpful to me. I would be happy to share it with you to pass to the family, if you feel that it might be of any benifit to them. Just drop me a pm.

Believe me, I'd rather have TMI at their disposal than not enough...they have been terrific sports about the whole communication thing and I can tell you, his mother is completely BLOWN AWAY by the support and love Joe is receiving.

Jaquie (his mom) had absolutely no idea how huge Joe is in our sport (#1 in my book) so we're showing her posters, bringing her magazines, forwarding website urls, giving her videos, then there's the Pay Pal thing, and now the eBay action and fundraiser in France....they are BOGGLED in the best way possible.

I can't say it enough - Thanks so much to everyone!

PS: Our Friends in France are tossing a Freeride for Joe...check this out (and email me if you can translate this damned poster...LOL!)
