Yes, in through the rear carb.
Probably 3 inches of water, basically the level of the water it was sitting in on the trailer. It evacuates when moving, but comes back in just as fast sitting.

Thanks for the tip for OCD Solutions, I've been messaging him and just about to make my order. JJS is at least 2 weeks out and I have to send my bits first. Busy time of year for him so I understand. I figure now that I put together a ski I might as well try and put together an ebox.

Yeah, as I mentioned I didn't have time to install my bilge for my whirlwind finish to just test it out. Just ordered a bilge wiring kit from OCD so turns out to be a good thing. Ski wasn't sitting in the water other than on the trailer so it wouldn't sink, but took on the level of water it was sitting in. I was surprised.

I was mostly curious of my engine that had been sitting on the shelf for years would run. It did so it was worth it and now I know a few more things I need to do to get it really ready.

Damn I want to go to the coast.

If you still have the krash scupper, flip the rubber on it. I noticed mine wouldn't close when I received my ski, but as soon as I flipped the rubber piece around it started sealing better.

I plan to do a test this weekend to see how long my ski sits in the water before "sinking". I'll let you know my results.

Scuppers sink ships! I plugged mine off and bilge does it all as long as the battery lasts. Also did you have the splash guard over the coupler? With out That the coupler will throw water up and into your carbs for sure

April 28-30th we'll be out there... just saying;)
I know holy fk I want to go. Working on trying to register the ski in TX and get it insured.

Hm, good idea. Will try that since it sticks open as it is.

No splash guard, I wasn't expecting that much water and didn't have time to unfreese the salted bolt that holds the guard on the engine. It is a must do from the start, learned that real quick lol.

Hey chix,
I know that engine sat for about two years..
Was it fogged before it was stored and did you fog it/spin the pto by hand before firing it up for the first time? I ask Bc at least from what I saw on your first start up video, it didn't look like there was much smoke, if any..

Oh there was a lot of smoke, but I only posted that video on my FB and Instagram. Probably fogged before sitting an was run on 25:1 for break in with previous owner. Spun over freely by hand.

you can coat the scupper flange with vaseline to get the rubber to stick to it. When riding this does not do much good, but if you stop to float, just reach back and push the rubber into the grease. Or when on the stand in the water.

I might just seal it with silicone and see what water it takes on...seems like a lot of work when I have a bilge anyway.
With the scupper sealed off fill the ski with water while it's on the trailer (being mindful of the electronics and carbs of course). All of it's dirty laundry will become obvious. I found a leak around my midshaft that I was unable to spot otherwise. After I fixed those leaks my ski easily stays drained with a 1" ball valve (which I trust far more than a scupper).

Aaaight, well I've ordered $500 worth of misc parts in the last day. Jeez. Iand I thought I was almost done.

From OCD I ordered Ebox coil rebuild kit and plug wires, start/stop wires, pos and neg & bilge harness.

JetManiac & McMaster a bunch of misc parts. For safety I'm going to install two more straps on the fuel tank front to rear with the inserts into the fiberglas instead of on top. Doh.

In the process of trying to get the ski registered in TX. So far I've filled out the PWD 143 vessel/boat application. Know I need to go get it inspected, but anything else beyond that is confusing.

I've done a bit of research, but seems to be hit or miss than personal experiences...but also looking for insurance on the darn thing once I get it registered.

If you are registering as homemade, you will need to call the TPWD office and schedule a time slot with a game warden. Bring the pwd form, and your receipts for the purchase or materials of the boat, or an affidavit. Be sure to bring cash. Not sure exactly where in Houston you are located, but my preferred office is the one off of 59 south and the beltway. The easiest and nicest people to deal with out of any of the TPWD offices.

I'm closest to the North beltway location. Their parkinglot is awful, but pretty chill inside.

let us know if you find someone to insure it! There's a thread on it but nothing solid. I had WAKEZONE for mine but then sold skis and got new ones and they wouldn't let me switch them.
I probably read through that thread seems hit or miss. Seems like if a policy went into underwriting with all the receipt there shouldn't be an issue with insuring the dollar cost. But then again people are afraid of that they don't understand.
