Someone found the test ski. No word on how/why it sank though:

"Right place at the right time!! Saw a jetski floating in the surf around sunset and thought it looked lonely with no owners in sight. Couldn't see anybody in the waves, so I waited for a few minutes and went out waist deep to pull it up on-shore. Jason helped tank it out with me. We called the local authorities and reported. Feet were numb at that point, so I ran in for a quick shower and grab my headlamp. Came back out to a call from the Coast Guard that they were going to launch a full search & rescue!! After about 20 min standing by the ski in the dark, a very excited dude ran up with a cell phone light and was more than relieved to get his baby back!! Prototype Krash Industries jetski was lost today in the heavy surf. Been looking for it all day, luckily he called off the search and no wasted resources tonight! Don't see this everyday... highlight of the evening for sure!!"

They were doing some more testing after the event ended, I think it might've been the next day. The beach looked empty in the live streams Jake Bright did on Instagram.

To your point though, I'm surprised there still aren't any videos of the 997 in action since they were doing test rides during the event. Maybe Krash asked everyone to hold off on posting so they can do their own reveal?

The fact that it was floating and didn't completely sink is great news! And if you ask me that thing looks damn good for a ski that was lost at sea.

Regarding why it sank, every ski will sink. It can be from a million different things. The most common is just getting separated from your ski and it taking on water especially in the big and powerful surf of PAC city.

Even Gomez sunk his ski during semi finals and if it wasn't for the rescue boats and the people on the beach it may have been lost as well.

Every ski I have seen that was lost at sea comes back missing handle poles, bars and or hoods, this ski looks like it was just ridden hard for a weekend and had some sand thrown on it.

Not a bad outcome in my book.

^Exactly. Every ski I've seen lost in Tierra returns as a scrap of bulkhead with a partial steering cable still attached. We had overhead waves all weekend for surfslam and Monday was no exception, I can only imagine the relief to have it re-surface. The ski was ripping all weekend, I watched multiple people jump on and look instantly comfy.

I will start by saying that the ski was in fact a great looking ski all weekend at the 2017 Surf Slam. I got to look all around the engine bay and oogled at the massive creative thinking that Nick had put into this ski, upon talking with Nick it really was nice to ask all the questions i could and have the true answers from the man himself. I will also say that I was watching the day after surf slam (Monday) and did see what happened, and was the "guy" on west coast surf riders that posted for a scout drone to be brought down to the beach but ill fill you in on that in a minute.

Rewind back to Sunday, the last official event day and Nick, Dave Collins, and I were huddling around the new prototype 50Cal and nick offered my good buddy Dave a test ride (one of very few lucky dudes to ride it) and when he returned he had a huge smile on his face and said he loved it, his main quote was how smooth the massive power comes on. I took a picture of nick and Dave (aka Bart) standing by the ski together and then proceeded through the day shredding on the awesome surf. Oh and i will mention that the pipe manifold will actually clear the production ski and will fit proper by raising the hood line and making it more of a lid design on the hull itself.

So Monday comes around and there was supposed to be small-ish group ride over at a different area of pacific city that typically provides extra clean surf. The sand is deep here and had a large dune that only a few vehicles could get over. The krash was the first ski in the water with Pro rider Jake Bright taking it for a test run. A few minutes into the run an unfortunate set of events happened and the ski got caught up in the surf bad enough to separate the rider in the wash before anyone else had a chance to launch. This is a reality that happens in free ride every now and then but thankfully everyone is alright and our idles Jake and Nick were okay after a scary attempt to keep a hold of the ski. Time was of the main concern at this point because the riders and nick had to escape town to catch flights.

Big shout out to Zach bright and Jarrett AKA Gilligan for canceling all plans to return home until the sea spat back out the Krash. Later that night the ski was recovered.

You cannot blame any one thing or person the way the situation went down, even if a fellow rider was out there it was likely the ski was in large enough surf not to be rescueable. Many many times things happen and skis or riders do not make it out of the ocean, in this case we are just happy everyone is alright and just remember to never go out alone.

Does this mean the skis landing in a couple weeks are not "production" ready and will have the grinded up pipe per your comment above "raising hoodline" ? Even the reaper ? Thanks for the first news on the ski FYI

I did not ask nick that specific question. I would assume they are all fit and finishes out

"Fit and finishes out" meaning not production and pre production ? I don't know when brights ski was put together and all the parts and hulls they sent here to the states were shipped a month ago ect

The 50cal is a great ski! I can't say it enough... the thing rides like a surf/skateboard but is so stable. Riding Irma yesterday I really got to put the 50cal in some big surf and it handled it beautifully. No skis out there IMO can slash and destroy a lip or section like the 50cal Can.
