*** Ride Report ***
Finally a ride report, I wasn't able to have it finished for the Torch Lake Freeride but I was able to finish it while on vacation up there. Kinda threw it together on the beach so the BOB pods are just bolted threw with some fender washers and rails are not turfed, but who cares about that.
Anyways a couple things that I have found
1. Cold Fusion steering DOES NOT work with the new X-metal adjustable pole, the bushings supplied are a larger OD diameter then the ID diameter on the pole, it required turning them down to fit. Also the turn plat is too large and it hits the stop, I had to turn the bar stop down so the turn plate could freely move.
2. There is no way RRP riser bars will ever fit the stock X-Metal chin pad, so for those looking to run the riser bars with this setup watch out! I still haven't figured out how to make this work, cause I was told it would all work.
3. spoiler alert....REINFORCE the shiz out of the pole mounting area and use a limiting rope!! lol.

Anyways...First ride out felt pretty good, a little nose high a slow speeds but with the blurp of the throttle and up to speed it came down and rode pretty good, very maneuverable and short small waves would easily launch the ski with no problem. The rockered nose felt good and didn't want to plow thought the waves it want to run up the waves.
Frist ride out was short lived however hit a wave or two and lost the steering...back to the beech to find the steering came undone, a little adjusting and I was back on the way. Next ride lasted longer and I was able to spend a little bit of time trying to learn and get used to it felt good but is definitely a learning curve to get used to the short hull but I liked it. Had a couple of other riders take it for a spin, hopefully they will chime in as well....ahem...Jordan.
At the end of the ride went back to shore and assessed the damage and found some good cracking around the pole area enough so that it was not ride able for the rest of the week. So needless to say so added reinforcing is in order, Version 1.0 (learning curve) I’ll keep ya posted on Version 2.0 lol.

Heres my report:
For one that is by far the easiest tray I have ever turfed! So flat! I had this thing turfed in the time it took Nate to go to the hardware store across the street and look for some bolts, etc. We didnt turf the rails yet since we planned on water testing the same day.

- A few issues just for Nates reference:
Steering cable on the short side, ends adjusted all the way out.
Need to fit a waterbox
grind down sharp edges on ride plate
cut rails slightly in back

RIDE REPORT:
Thing is pretty sweet. Its a little twitching at low speeds, probably due to the super wide stance in the tray.
It is a little nose high coming out of the water at low speeds, but could be remedy easy with a mag pump. lol
Overall, it rides pretty well, I didnt spend a lot of time on it to do anything other than feel it out, but it felt super throwable/flipable. It also felt small (it is small, but feeling small is another story).

I think if Nate can get the nose fixed without adding a lot of weight this will be a pretty fun ski!

So have the issues been resolved?

Lol, i wish i could say yes but the answer is nope!

Nate became a father this summer so the ski has only seen the water that one time. He has all the materials to fix it up this winter though.

i know I am looking forward to getting this thing on the water. I am pretty sure that it can flip a boat wake with that 701.

I would like to say I have this thing all buttoned up and completed but I don’t, I could use the new kid as an excuse as to why it’s not done but I can’t. I have to be honest; I was just a lazy ass over summer and have put this thing on the back burner. I have all supplies necessary to fix it and then some so I am hoping I can pick at it over winter break.
As a tinkerer by nature I am already planning on over things to do to this thing while I am at it, like putting in a blue printed 155 pump maybe different foot holds, add sponsons, build a big bore for it? I dunno … still up for other suggestions while it’s back under the knife.

I want to ride this thing. I really want to try out one of these tiny hulls before I go aftermarket.

Hopefully if I finish this thing this year we can meet up and you can get some ride time on it.
With the little ride time I have on it I really can’t speak to its overall ride quality but I can say that I may have 600 dollars into this hull including the original purchase of the hull so even if its just ok I will be just fine with that since I didn’t have to shell out $6000+ for a AM hull. What can I say, I’m a cheapo lol
