Lake Allatoona

If this ride were to happen... I own a shop on Lake Allatoona, and have access to a 15 acre lot where we could possibly host this shin dig. The only deal is that this is a Corps owned lake and you must be on your best behavior, observe all no wake rules, and OBEY the 10 o'clock quiet time. Let me know what you guys think. And try to come up with a head count... FYI: The lot is $250 to rent, plus porta potties. So if we could come up with slight fundage, that would be GREAT! Ahoy Marine (My shop) will host one dinner of hotdogs and burgers one night. Let me know what you think.

Just for clarification... During the day you can cut loose and drinking is a.. ok. Just at 10 o'clock pm. Quiet time is enforced by park rangers... There are actually 40 acres of land here but only the 15 that we will rent are alcohol approved.

Yes there is a ramp, it's a one car ramp. It is Kellogg Creek area, we have Harbour Town and Victoria Marinas just a 2 minute ride away, so we should have good boat wake for the most part. We have some beach area to pull the skis on. The area is in a no wake cove so the skis won't be getting beat up on if beached...

So far no one will step up to set it up at Lanier in 10... I have a spot to do it at Allatoona, but I can understand that Lanier has better potential. But so far.... :pancake:

I host the Smith Lake Assault every year here in Cullman AL. It is pretty simple for my event. I set a date, post it up, call the local BBQ joint and tell him what time and days to deliver food and thats it. Keep it simple and YOU will want to do it again. The mega rides are really cool, but TONS of work for the people putting them on. Ask Justin aka madscientist what I am talkin bout-he tries to make his ride a mega ride each year and spends a ton of money and works his azz off hosting the ride and now does not want to do another one. I on the other hand spend 15 minutes organizing my ride and no money and have a blast. My ride will never make RIDE MAGAZINE, but I don't care. My ride is the wrong time of the year to have a huge turnout. (late September).

Long story short-
if u want to do this-
set a date and location and post it up.
people will come or not come
if 5 people come-you have a freeride in my opinion!
my entire 'friend list' comes from freerides and races.

Gil, were you aware that someone hijacked your screen name and posted a coherent, thoughtful post? You might want to look into this as it may hurt your reputation. :pancake:

Yeah I know. I have pmed admin to have them look into this situation. Thank GOD it only happens about 1 time per year.

On another note-some people may think the 'small rides' are lame, heck, some people probaly think my ride is lame. My dead honest opinion is already stated. Daytona is UNBELIEVABLE-do not take this in a negative light at all-but it is soooooo hard to try to spend time with all your friends because they are ALL there. The smaller rides you really get to know one another and spend time chillin and riding.

I love the mega rides as much as anyone on here, but, I like the little rides equally as much. Terry put his 1st ride on this year, the weather sucked, chit got tore up, and we had a blast! Can't wait for him to do it again next year!

Thanks Gil for the words of inspiration. Hehe. But seriously, reading all that you said made me think and now i'm looking to possibly do it at another spot that i would think would be better. I have to check into all the info and get back on this one. It would be a beach near rental camp sites. Near three marinas with 40 foot cruisers and below. And its right off i75. Is there any current allatoona rides?

I'd be up for an Allatoona ride. Even if it was 15-20 people it'd be ok with me. The more people you get on a lake, the harder it gets to jump the good boats wake. Don't know if I'd stay and camp though...

i am gonna shoot to have my skis running and go for a campin trip at allatoona or lanier the weekend of may 15th. i havent rode in close to a year. it sucks, and i am itching to ride. me and mxkris(rob) were riding in early march or mid feb in wetsuits. it wasnt too bad. but if anyone wants to join let us know. we could use some other people to ride with. and that way we wont be the only two freezing our azzes off!!
