It appears to me that the riders this year are keeping their ankles BENT way forward to keep their knees on the hood to accomodate the short poles??? Anyone else see the same thing?

Did he even lift the pole once?
yah, didnt you see the 4th flip? but thats about the only time it came off the hood tho. mind as well be a fix steer. the hull almost looks big enough for 2 motors. next year youll be seeing guys laying there belly on the hood and steering the bars at the pole mount, all so they can do 35 flips in a row

its an ATP pole... but about 6 inches of tube total lol

the hull looks different, but then maybe we need different instead of all these splashes we see

obviously it rides incredibly well..... well... when lee is the pilot with a huge honking dasa power plant

i didnt like the lines when i first saw it, but with the colour scheme lee has on his with teh wrap its growing on me

It seems like the new way to challenge ourselves with riding standups is to reinvent the ski to make it difficult and uncomfortable to ride so we can re experience the learning curve. No new tricks. Just more stupid flips flops and fist pumps. Lame.

I think credit is due for progression: backflip, underflip, superflip, scarecrow, 540 flat spin, etc. This stuff is impressive and fun to watch. These guys are sick.

I have a bit of an issue with purpose built hulls that do nothing but these tricks though, with engines that cost more than stock skis that probably need to be rebuilt every 10 hours. Purpose built skis that you could never, ever consider riding around the lake for fun. Seems like cheating, you're no longer doing freestyle on a jetski, you're doing freestyle on some floating vessel that you built yourself.

When Malone and RR were top of the sport, they were on stock hulls that you could probably still run around and have fun with on the weekend with your buddies.

Just because something is different, doesn't mean it's wrong.... You guys sound like the guy who won't cut his mullet because he's stuck in the 80's.

And am I missing something???? the only time I saw the pole on the hood was for the superflip sequence??

Its not that I am stuck in my ways and won't cut the mullet. I have modded my ski for years and i am all for having a better riding ski. But look at that stance. You can honestly tell me that lee stone could not do the same tricks from previous years on a ski with a "normal size pole". If anything these skis are taking away from the amount of tricks that could be performed. Oooh a variation of the same trick. Yeah that's wicked. Give him a championship. Freestyle has become a joke. It use to be cool. And I am a Jetski geek that loves all the tech that goes into the latest skis. But when all it yields is some guy with wider spread legs, knees on the hood and butt stuck out, wearing tights. I call it gay.

ive watched the video a few times now and yeah when he is going slow he is bent over pole on the hood and knees on the front but when hes in the middle of a trick the pole is up and not on the hood. im new to stand up jet skis but honestly the reason why im so into them now is the new tricks flips spins and all that :):):):) the old school tricks are cool for a little bit but its not like the new tricks where your like damn that was awesome. frankly thats what everyone wants thats what will bring more people into the sport is the wow factor its just the evolution of the sport.

yeah, I hate this new stuff too!
we want to see more lame old skool hood tricks!!!! :naughty:

h8rs gotta h8

So that trick they say he invented, the no handed, one footed roll, thats not innovation?

I thought it was a bad ass routine, Im all for ski progression, no matter which way it goes. That keeps parts available, and cheap.

Whats it matter if the pole is short, hes not sitting down, and doing what he did, takes alot more than a hull and a powerplant.
