Well that kinda sucks....one bore and new sleeves are needed....discouraging..

I know how you feel Mat, It makes sense to start on 827 so you have multiple bores but we want the displacement too. I chose to start on the 2nd bore at 846 so I would have at least 1 bore with standard pistons and at least 3 when the half sizes are available. I don't anticipate running out of bores anytime soon but if I do, a resleeve is pretty simple.

I guess not really....I do get 4++ seasons on stuff...at 718 I think now...

How much are sleeves/re sleeveing?

I know you would have to do some porting to match them up but do the sleeves require boring after installation too or are they ready for pistons?

Well I took it that he was asking for the cost of the sleeve and install.

Sounds like he may have his own equipment and tools to clean it up.

But yes of course, they need to be cleaned up and bored after install.

I just asked Kyle about the .5 MM piston deal and we already offer that in the base 90MM piston. I swear, you do the same thing everyday, day in and day out and you still learn a thing or two.

DASA's big-big bores are 89 - 89.5 - 90 - 90.5 - 91MM

You hope to get 4 seasons. But with built motors, that is not normal, plus if you ride it enough, you will need to freshen it up more often.

I average 1-2 seasons.

Heck, in 2003 I think I did 4 rebuilds (not always 2 pistons or bore jobs, sometimes 1 piston and hone) in one season.

I got lucky in 2005, I was having some issues and was going to just install a different cylinder setup, pulled mine down and found that the skirts on both pistons were just about ready to collapse. One more ride and It may have distroyed my crank, cylinders and cases. This was with just over a season on that motor.

If the motor is set up right, you run the right gas & oil the builder suggest, you don't sink it & leave it, your going to get at least 3 seasons on this SS motor.

We ride a lot. It's winter & we still ride once a week at least, summer 2-3 rides a week is the norm. I ride at least 10 gals on the normal ride. So the normal yr lets say 40 wks of riding that's 400 gallons.

We pulled my XS 6mil stroker apart after 6 months of riding it hard, I would say I had 125-150 gallons on that motor & it was perfect inside, looked like the day I got it. XS just replaced the seal & reassembled it.

Thats what I would think....Bk that sounds pretty odd up there ^^... were you running sudcos and walmart oil and not maintaining anything? 4 half rebuild do not=4 rebuilds and is not how I would do things....or you will end up going back anyway...

Laughs, the cylinder gets handled a few more times and it gets heated up to drop the sleeves in.

I agree, totally unacceptable.

The 6mil was high compression, TL, 860cc. It was smooth power from the bottom hit to the top. Great motor, that I rode a lot!

I like the 846SS more, it fits my riding style better. That's why I ordered the XS1000 motor & plan to ride the Sh*t out of it for 2 seasons before i even think about pulling it apart.

I take really good care of my stuff, so I see no problem with 3 seasons on the SS motor. I also let Xscream set everything up, I run what the set up calls for! I don't even change plugs, my motor runs every time I hit the start button.
