Liter motor dreaming...

This is what I'm leaning toward more than anything now. I can't justify a 1000 and I really can't justify a 865 with 1 bore either. I'm pretty bummed man because I have actually lost a lot of sleep in the last few days trying to figure out how to get a 1000cc motor. It just ain't happening.

And 400 dollars worth of shipping/sleeves/re sleeving/clean up work...above and beyond a normal rebuild...does not sound good either.

I may do it but I don't know now. A poor mans big bore goes more in line with how much I actually get to ride/how much money I am willing to spend maybe.

with the exception of the cylinder itself...the poor mans BB will cost you more money in the long run IF IF IF you continue to ride standups for the next 10-15 years

im a lifer...I will NEVER give up my ski

unless it becomes one with more cc's, I plan on my scream motor to be around for a loooooooong time

im with you on the sleep thing though...my motor was ordered after 1 conversation with Pat, granted..there was full droolage the entire freeride at daytona last year

but that week and the couple of weeks prior to delivery I didnt sleep a wink

Thats how I was with my Envy!!! But that was a pretty easy decision as I needed a new hull and I love SXR's except for their weight. This liter motor crap has me drooling again but I have to let it go...it takes a LOT to make me sad man...I'm a very happy person when it comes to most things...and I'm really bummed right now.

your preaching to the choir........had it been that easy, I'd have a 1000 myself...someday

you will NOT be diappointed with an SS 865...

joshs hits so hard it will literally tear itself out of your hands...its smooth as all getout (almost as smooth as mine :Banane26:), but the power is borderline violent...good grips, lol..are necessary

start at the 2nd bore, that will give you 849cc to start which you can run for a minimum 3-4 Ohio seasons......Your oil mixture will be quicksilver 32:1 + premium fuel...zero need for racegas

within a year you will see half sizes....so dont worry about them, they'll be here plenty of time ahead

during that 4 year stretch, you will have plenty of time to search for deals on new replacement OEM cranks for spares..and hell, you might even be able to source the pistons cheaper if you have lots of time to search....

you will see and speak with your motor builder IN PERSON at the freeride which you attend every year....he will know you by name and you will get to browse their latest innovations hands on

if you take a trip to their shop, you can demo ANYTHING they have to offer including the Thunder Pumpkin...Xscream always has boats in house for test rides

if you STILL need convicing, fly back to FLA and you can ride:

Xscream 785 billet--F1 pro
Xscream 785 billet--superjet--full Xscream built roundie
Xscream 849 billet--Rickter
Xscream 827 billet--Superfreak
Xscream 849 billet--superjet
Xscream 1000billet--Rickter
Xscream 849 billet--Matrix

this is standard lineup at the beach.....if this doesnt convince you, youre hopeless

That's a pretty sweet lineup right there. I can't wait for this summer...Our resolution was to ride as much as work allows.

It's so cool to go to the spot, pop the hoods & everyone is riding the same brap!!!!

The best thing is we never have to work on them, oil, gas, ride! Thats it, we don't even change plugs! 100% saltwater use!!!!

The only down fall to a Xscream motor is............................ If you want to try someone elses ski & it just has some BB under the hood you go right back to the beach! These motors just rock!!!!

I can't even think about only having 1 bore left, who cares when your getting brap like we got. I would buy this 865SS again if it didn't have any bores left. Best bang for a SS motor you can get!

I believe you guys and appreciate the info and the offer.

I have not ruled it out at all! Just really want a 1000cc motor before I get to old to really grow in to it and rock it.

scott, not sure im following you,the 6 mil was smoother than the 865 but louder with same exh?did it feel like it made more or less power overall?
I didnt think Joshs 849 felt violent, just kinda torqy. His and corys felt very sim. although i only got to ride both in pretty rough surf with shorter poles than im use to,it would be much more easy to feel out in flats. Ill say one thing for sure though, they both felt like plenty of power to do whatever you would want to do

On a side note, you guys would do well to keep us informed of goings-on on the east coast.

It isn't that we neglect you guys, but it is just hard to see what is going on all the time, especially on the other side of the world.

Give us a month-two months lead time of the big events and we will be there with product to see, support for a demo boat, or something like that.

We missed the Daytona ride or had no idea of the shear size of it's appeal until it was too late. Seemed like it was almost like the WF in Havasu.

We will show up in force, throw down some sponsor deals, whatever it takes.

that is something you need to work out with nick (yamaslut). he is the promoter. You won't find a bigger freeride than daytona, it's a good idea to show your wares there.

Doesn't help if you don't know though. I wish someone would have kept us abreast and hit us up to see if we were interested in helping out.

...and a weekend in Daytona? Even us Cali boys know about Daytona.

I agree with boris here. If you can't run WOT for a long time then your motor just isn't tuned right or is a flatwater freestyle specific ski that's tuned just to go blip blip blip backflip, blip blip blip barrel roll.

I am running XS porting on a 62T 701-.50 over. Dual 44's made out of two singles off 650 SJ's. 33cc domes with ~200 psi maybe a tad more. Running 93 octane and 40:1 penzoil or quicksilver. Pro-x pistons.

I can run wide open from the ramp all the way to the ocean with no issues right now. That is at least a 5 mile run and we do this every time we head out to the surf. I laugh when people say their ski will pass the 5 seconds WOT test. I need mine to pass the 5 minutes WOT test. If it will run 5 min WOT then it will run 40 minutes WOT.

Back to your regularly scheduled thread.

That part of the difference, my setup is for flat water freestyle. Until my Hooker was installed, I ran a really low pitch Skat Freeride Swirl.

My SXR can run WOT all day long.

Be great to have you there with some demo stuff to check out,But as often as you post here and with the past yrs cali guys participation I really dont see how you could not know Tona has been HUGE for the last 4 yrs and still growing FAST .Our wavedaze event here in Va is growing crazy fast every yr as well, this will be our 4th year, and it grows almost double every yr. You should consider it as well.I think ocean freerides are growing just as fast as the havasu flat water racing/freestyle stuff is dying in the last few yrs. They hit their peak years back when skis were novel and new,and drew a interest just as catamarans and sailboards did back in the day.Ocean freeriding on the other hand is on the way up.

How the hell can you say racing is down? Stand up racing up is back!:Banane19: Both surf slam and Daytona had races this year. There are also 2 national race tours planned for 2010. Get your head out of the sand:twak:

An invite would be nice you know. Hard to be in the center of the action when we are on the other side of the world.

"Help me, help you"

We'll be there, you just got to let us know.

Send me some dates, who is setting it up, what you expect, what to expect, what can we do, and so forth.

Brian

You hope to get 4 seasons. But with built motors, that is not normal, plus if you ride it enough, you will need to freshen it up more often.
I average 1-2 seasons.

We have a VERY short season up here. :reporter:
