Thanks Matt....he has been around a looong time and it would be encouraging to hear him say it is life long stuff......but can that be??

I talked to him and asked him about this.
Answer: It depends on the quality of the epoxy and the prep work, the age of the epoxy, and the type of epoxy. An epoxy that is still within shelf life might not last as long as fresher epoxy.

i bought my 04 superjet brand new, didnt touch the motor until august last year when we replaced the crank seals and added the ATP head... never missed a beat

you got it backwards....3 northern seasons = 1 florida season

True lol i was trying to type as fast as i could and run to the gym. Well i guess im just one of those guys who is over anal and makes sure every thing is perfect. I would rather be safe than sorry and make sure my equipment is in tip top shape, especialy if its a 5k plus motor. I absolutely hate rigging things or having a issue that is over looked. You guys are lucky you do not race motocross, when i was racing every 4-5 months was a complete motor rebuild which is around $1500 not to mention track fee's,gear, gas, food and regular maintenance on a 4 stroke motorcycle. Either way Matt get what you want and ride it till it cannot possibly be ridden anymore :woot:

I believe you misunderstood and/or are misinterpreting it with your own preconceptions doing the interpreting.
So here, reworded: IF good, fresh epoxy is used on a properly prepared surface, then it shouldn't be a maintenance item (i.e., you don't have to replace epoxy that's falling out)

Even shorter: If done right, no worries.

I have 11 months on my TS motor.......probably well over 150 gallons of fuel

the spark plugs have been changed ONCE..and thats it

I have 2 years and 3 months on mine. :wavey:
Though, I have replaced the plugs twice. Didn't need it but since everyone else was wrenching I thought I should do my part.

I have been pondering a new toy lately. I have friends that rip snow mobiles, crotch rockets, Harley's, sky dive, pretty much anything out there...

And I have tried or owned/own all of those also (never owned a Harley or a snow mobile but have ridden many) but the only thing I can really get in to and honestly love is stand up jetskis.

So I think the only thing I can justify buying is a X scream motor.

Now...what size to get?? Might as well go 1000!

The 1000 is bliss

I really would love to launch off of 5-6 footers the way TC does with that 1000cc motor. Its the only way its happening. All the skill in the world will not propel my ski in to 12 foot in the air re entries off a 5-6 footer.

And that is our average "big" wave here in Cleveland.

But that is a LOT of money man.

is TC running a 1000cc motor?

Don't forget he carries a lot of speed when he rides. It's almost like he's racing out there. It's very different then how most east coasters ride. slow, slow, slow hammer the gas!

I had a lady at the Y the other day getting annoyed with my hyperness and fast swimming.

She gave me this weird look and said, "What is this a race?"

I said, "its always a race!"
