Custom/Hybrid LOST my new Brawler Hull

I think all that is really needed is a flat day with clear bottom conditions and some luck. Who knows how much of it is sticking out of the bottom now that it has been down there so long. But I have faith it can be found with a side scan and a ROV. The good thing about this thing is it feeds back live video and can be controlled to scan the bottom in the area of any hits. And when you find it it is tethered to you so you can mark the site really well. If I can't find what I am looking for in my own search (it's an airplane that has been lost going on 70 years) I have tossed up the idea of getting an underwater Magnometer bur they are crazy expensive and that wont be for years if it even gets to that

i bought a 1200 dollar side image scanner and had no luck though used it all summer sold it to help pay for the new hull .( i probably have access to one) one problem is there is only 6'' visibility on average where is went down though. and calm days are a crap shoot on lake Erie . still thinking positively but a lot of shi.tty factors contribute to this hull being still lost

Well hopefully you will be able to have a couple weeks with this ROV and a side scan and it will prove helpful. You just need 1 or 2 good clear bottom days to investigate anything the side scan picks up. I think it can be found. just hoping it didn't go to deeper water and sink

I say give it a shot. What have you got to lose.

I love the idea of buying a unit like that and renting it out as needed. Just get a big Pelican case so it's fit to travel. It may not work in every scenario due to variables like visibility but it would only have to recover a single ski to pay for itself.

Glad to hear you are back on the water. So sorry to hear about your loss. It is a terrible feeling. I hope you have your new boat insured. I know I will not be riding without insurance anymore...

Have you found anyone that will insure an aftermarket hull? Last I heard there were no options available anymore.

Thanks

State Farm insured my rickter, it was about 40 bucks a month for a ski valued at 17k

I have contacted Geico, Statefarm, boat us, progressive and skisafe so far, and they will all ONLY offer ACTUAL cash value, and not AGREED Cash value. so even though I'm listing $3500 as the value, (its NOT worth that as book value, but TO ME, I'd feel like id need $3,500 to find and buy a ski that has been restored and as clean as mine, or a lot newer than mine that I could find for $3,500) so I don't mind paying the $17 or $18 a month for $3,500 vs the $8 a month for the "book value" of like $700 that my ski is worth...
So, OldSkool and Nsmith212 , your insurance companies are covering you for AGREED CASH VALUE? or ACTUAL CASH VALUE from you providing receipts, etc?

yea, I just looked at "cash value" for my ski, and it is $620 low and $670 high, but they technically add another couple hundred for the SS impeller and "high performance exhaust" as well as $50 for my Kawi cover.

I'll tell you though, If my ski sunk and I only got $670 for it, I'd go jump off a bridge.

Well If I had insurance I would be a much happier man at this stage in the game. I called Geico and had the entire quote and proposal all worked up and all I needed to do was send in the receipts and pictures and begin the paper trail. And then I sunk my boat ..... I just never went through with everything I had intended because in my mind I was thinking "I'm still not finished." But I specifically asked multiple times about multiple scenarios about sinking, wrecking, and getting stolen. I was assured that after my ski was verified to be worth the claimed value that it would be FULLY insured to that amount. (I was asking for $15,000.00) I do have some other friends who I will reach out to that have their machines insured and I will get a final consensus. And try and respond soon, because now you have sparked my interest as well!

Yea, well, OldSkool , just got called back by Geico and skisafe, and yes, they'll BOTH insure me, but because of the AGE/YEAR of the ski, they will offer me a LIABILITY ONLY policy.... its like $6 a month... they don't care how nice the ski looks or what its worth, its LIABILITY ONLY.
I guess on all of your guys' custom skis, I'm assuming they come with titles and that they all have newer model years, like 2014, 2015, 2016 etc... well, these insurance companies see the year 1989 and they look the other way.

If so, what company?
