its looking like sunday we will be laying up the top. I have some materials coming and am gonna try to infuse the hood.

just messing around with some scrap and leftover bag materials for the hell of it produced this. its infused its not perfect but came out better than when I have handlaid them. almost always get a few air pockets. looks like I was just a little short on resin.

the only reason it would need more is to gain weight so it rides better in the surf. Its pretty solid like it is.

and carbon holds installed will be no problem.

Thats badass!!!!! So did you ever announce a price for this sweet boat?

I have to build it first then I will know a total time and will have all the numbers to arrive at a total. trust me I want to start building these like you cant imagine. once this gets going I hope to be able to pull together some other projects and get those going too.

I have been doing a lot of research, scouring the net for supplies and doing tests at the shop like a madman, and working on skis and parts. we will see how it pays off but I am stoked about the new stuff coming down the line. I always like epoxy but not so much on the carbon. now i see the light and am like a kid in a candy store with all the stuff I wanna do.

first things first. get this hull done. IS IT SUNDAY YET????? lol

sick as a dog, but the layup seemed to go good sunday. pulled the bag and went back to bed. will pop it tomorrow and post pics and trusty bath scale weight.

going back to bed.

shortening the hull is as easy as making an insert to fit the mold. not an issue at all.

in fact this top deck has inserts in the gunwhale that chasingdaylite wanted lower and shorter.

this hull is by no means the end point in fx evolution. its just the basics that most do to an fx hull.

I would hope to make a few more changes over time to tweak it even further.

managed to stay upright long enough to get it out of the mold today and hand it off to chasingdaylite. came out with 20.8 on the top. we both agree we put a little too much material around the pole mount and tray. its simply overkill.

Nice work, but why not make a channel for the hand pole (or is this another optional plug piece for the mold)?
