Yes it is. The WDK Diablo hood & nosepiece.
Very plain (I like that), thick, seemingly strong, 16lbs (hood & nosepiece)
Liner is not very secure in the hood shell.

Got the outside of the rear pieces glassed. Looks ugly, but this is still structural, not for looks.
I still need to glass the rear rideplate inserts back in.
After that, I'll put some light glass and thickened epoxy over the kevlar so I can sand it.

The pics make it look a bit worse than it is, partly because the big lump in the corner is going to get cut out yet (ride plate insert will go there).
I am not going to put lots of layers there. Just enough to hide the texture a bit.

Got the rear rideplate inserts glassed back in.
Also, the front exhaust hole is closed now.

Worked on grinding all the crap & extra useless weight off my tray pieces.

Ugh....just so y'all don't think I've forgotten this thread, I'll bump it.
I have not worked on it for 5 or 6 weeks now, ever since I accepted a job 130 miles away.
I've been busy fixing up my house to sell it.
Movers are there today.
I might get to work on the ski again in a couple weeks.

I'm thinking of doing some work like that to the back of my waveblaster (for racing), so does using the cf or c/k work that much better than simple fiberglass? I don't have much experience with doing such work, so are you using the cf for looks or does it make a structural differance?

I am not very good at this.
I used c/k on the inside because it is somewhat lighter (uses less resin) and probably marginally stronger.
On the outside, I wish I had gone with glass. Kevlar fabric is just about impossible to sand. You sand the resin and the carbon out and then you're left with kevlar strands.
It makes a mess.

Using c/k instead of glass may have saved me a couple ounces, who knows.
I bought that stuff mainly to glass the tray back together strong (without gaining too much weight).
Since I already had it, that's what I used.

Maybe now I can get a jump on you, my supplies are suppose to be here this friday. I am currently down to 96 pounds and have a little more foam to take out in front of the pump inlet. The more I look at the construction of these hulls, the more I feel good solid foam around the tray is important for structural reasons.

Thanks Matt! This is the kind of help that makes this forum so good. Keep posting how it goes. I know its probably selfish to ask others to try then tell the rest of us what went right and wrong so we can save time, money and stress. When is comes to engines I feel very confident, when it comes to glass work I'm a scared little girl.
