Alright, got the engine installed and running. I had some trouble with a dying starter that was drawing too much current to get the ignition firing.
I am borrowing a slightly better starter for now. I guess it's time to buck up and buy a brand-new OEM starter. $270 bones though....ouch.

Going to water test it tomorrow.

Thanks Craiger....I had a few obstacles I didn't expect.
Starter going out, bilge switch needs replaced, exhaust leak, a busted motor mount.....
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll actually have a (good) ride report tomorrow.

I have a new set of Raider mount's I am going to use in my new boat! I don't have your skill's to destroy mount's so probably overkill anyway and wasted effort haha but oh well what the hell huh lol

Just got back from the river.....I went through 3 gallons taking it real easy to start break-in.
Power is much snappier down low now. I can't comment on mid to top yet, as I didn't try that. My cooling restrictors were too big, overcooling the cylinder a bit. I didn't want to open the throttle up too much with that.
I like this motor :veryhappy:

I need to chase down a voltage drop somewhere in my starting system. I suspect the relay.

Hey Chris!
Static is set at 50 degrees, and the curve Art made up for me starts at 16 degrees, works up to 30 degrees at around 4k RPM, and then drops back off to 16 at the rev limit.
I sent you a PM, got some more ignition questions for you.

I just ran another 3 gallons through it. It rips! :bigok:
As I suited up at the boat ramp, a lady came up to me and started shouting: "Do you need help?"
Me: WTF? "No...I'm fine!"

She keeps walking. :dunno:

How is it compared to the non-TL lower compression version?

I have only limited ride-time breaking it in for comparison - but I remember what it felt like last winter breaking in the non-TL lower compression motor.
It's a lot snappier, more instant throttle response, and better punch throughout.
I need to run another 10-12 gallons through it with mineral oil to finish break-in, after that it's back to Amsoil Dominator. Power should be 100% there at that point.
So far - very very impressive. A significant step up from the previous version.

Run mineral oil at 40:1, keep the pump loaded, go easy on the WOT runs.

You REALLY need to re-think your break in procedure. I have learned from Shonuff that the proper technique is as follows:

Get ski off trailer and pointed in the right direction (no matter what the ambient temp is)

Put life jacket on

insert tether

hit green button and throttle at same time

hold throttle wide azz open for at least 10 minutes

go to Gil's house

re-build motor

LOL
