I forgot that you had never tried a superfreak before. Surprisingly awesome aren't they? I bet a lot more are about to be shipped to the west coast after you let people ride it.

I dicked around with it for half the day yesterday, and it's definitely not a trim issue. That Wammer nozzle just turns A LOT. More than the steering cable can provide, that's for sure.

oem steering cables have plenty of travel. you must set the turnplate so the cable is on the farthest out position. this requires turning the steering stop 90 degrees. once you have full centered steering cable throw, turning lock to lock, you can proceed to setting the turn nozzle. by putting the cable farther out on the turn plate, and turning the steer stop, you will have full travel of the cable with not having to turn the bars as far. this is quick steer. now adjust the turn nozzle to be centered with the bars and ski. by moving the steer nozzle attach point in, closer to the nozzle, the nozzle will turn farther. Getting this all dialed in perfect takes time and you do not want any streaching or binding of the cable. good luck, your ski looks like it rips awesome.

I did all that. I spent close to six hours on it. I've had to do plenty of finagling with steering throws in the past.

The issue is simply that the steering attachment point on the nozzle goes through about 5.5 inches of travel. There is no fixing that that with a 4 inch throw cable.
The closest I could get it was using the outermost point on the turn plate (I do that anyways) and drilling a new hole closer to the nozzle (I usually do that will all my steering nozzles, too).

Matt, it is actually cool to see another vid of the ski being ridden in straght lines and normal turns. After Josh's vid and now yours-I do believe this is the real deal hull that can be ridden however you want to ride it!

I am soooo stoked that you like it. Now all I have to do is crap a bunch of money to get me one. LOL

yeah i move the nozzle's cable pivot point too. getting the oem cable to be used to its maximum is key to quick steer. you would not want a 5.5" throw cable unless you want to move the turnplate cable pivot out even more and keep the nozzle pivot at stock location and not turn the steer stop.

Honestly, the hull turns so freaking fast as it is, the added throw would not be needed and perhaps detrimental.
This is full extension with the cable right now.

yup i agree, there is no need for the longer throw steer cable once you setup the oem proper. and yeah if your ski doesn't turn faster than you can think, then you need to shorten your hull so it rides on the pump. longer cable would only mean you would have to move your bars more for the same effect at the nozzle, no thanks.

Looking good! I noticed you are being nice to the bottom putting it on a trailer in the water with carpeted bunks. Not using the aluminum scissor stands. It's going to hurt watching it get thrashed on the beach.

I forgot to bring the scissor stand and I didn't have my trailer with me.
So it was beach cart time. Besides, I wanted to try out that cart.
I'll have no issues beaching it on actual sand, but rocky Columbia shores.....eh, I don't think so.

Nah...mine was in the back of a van.
I'm going out again today.
It's kinda nasty out, though

I rode some more today until a bolt on the steering nozzle backed out and I had to stop.
Very fun boat, so nimble and light. I won't get to ride again until Friday or Saturday and I am already missing it.

You might want to look how far the intake grate sticks down. Another freak got beached & lost the pump (IDOK).... Just be careful!

FYI: my freak is a ridiculous beast with my stock stroke stock cylinder big bore motor. More than once my hand came off the bars, plenty of times I jumped way further/higher/more crooked than anticipated.
I don't know how you hang on with a liter motor.

The stitches in my chin prove it's hard to hold on to the liter motors in those hulls.
