I don't think anyone said it was splashed. I know I didn't.... But your 'inspired by' comment is a really nice way of saying 'copying' and I appreciate you agreeing with me. Finally.

How about this....

What if I started selling freeride shirts that look almost exactly like 964Chris' shirts. His work is very recognizable... (It's his style, his art, it's called brand recognition.) My shirts would look almost exactly like his style with a few minor changes. I'll have a RM instead of a RU. I'll call them improvements! Maybe ill print them on a different shirt too. I'll sell them for $12 if he wants $15. If he or other people bash me, I'll go on and on about how he "inspired me" but my work is original. I improved on the design, I use better (cheaper) shirts, and I'm saving people money!!!

Would that be cool? Hell No... It would be a really crappy underhanded screwed up thing to do. And that's just clear as day to me and it appears nobody else here would care. I feel like everyone would say "Hey Swapmeet is just trying to help us have nicer/cheaper shirts guise... Give him a break!"

It's brand recognition. And he's selling skis using someone else's style, brand and effort. And y'all just don't get it. Or you don't care.
Honestly, I don't know why I do either. I don't know Rick Roy or care if he's successful. But he worked hard to create his brand, and having some kid borrow/copy/ loosely interpret or otherwise use another persons hard work for their own personal gain is wrong.

I hope Maxx splashes the aquabot bottom deck and sticks under a Chan top deck splash LMAO!!! Everyone would be so happy. "Yay progress!!!!"

Wow, this has certainly derailed. All hulls started somewhere. Taking a splash and making line changes is still a copy in my book, or like this thread is about; straight up coping and putting the original name is certainly a COPY! Finding something that works and making changes on it to improve it and make it your own is another story. Now making it your own is where the gray area comes in. One line change doesnt really classify in my book, but a reshaped nose, hood, line changes, rocker, chime changes like in the Aquabot is not a copy, that is its own ski inspired by an existing design. If nobody every splashed a superjet and made improvements then we wouldn't even have A/M hulls today.

Now the original discussion was about taking a hull, molding it, and producing a replica with the same name on it!

Yah way to swap this into something totally different than the actual topic and the help for others.

Now they wont even want to read all this pigeon poop.

Wow!!!!!! Anybody want to buy some xfs molds? Lol i pulled one plug off of it only one but was left at somebodys house and look at what happened. Id rather crush these original molds than have someone make exact replicas. I have foul feelings at this moment. I might not feel so bad if he have me a commision of all his proceeds. Lol NOT

^^That's why I stopped arguing with the pigeon.
DirtyDirtson, Aquabot rides unlike anything else I've ridden. That's a good thing
Thanks KTM how can you call something a copy if it performs completely different. To be honest if that's how people think than all hulls built after a JS are a copy.
