Spent some time with a parts washer and bead blaster on my cases

Also spent a good hour getting a broken bolt out of the intake on the top case..



Gonna have to get a threaded insert or a m8 to m6 stud but I got it out thank god. Also pulled the other 3 studs too, rather one break now then later.

Next time use a mig welder instead of drilling it out. Works much better and you can still use oem sized hardware.

I didnt have access to a welder at the time, that's usually my go to trick. I also tried an easy out. I was just impatient and got the dremel out lol.

Thanks MADMAT! Tonight I'll be blasting the flywheel cover, cylinder, head, and cleaning all my hardware to see if I need to order any new stainless from McMaster Carr.

Later this week I will be placing my order with @JetManiac for an SBT crank, 83mm Pro-X pistons, and a few other goodies Can't wait....

Also in the works is getting my cases fixed, have a crack where the Mag side crank bearing pushed the alignment pin through into the flywheel area. Need to push that pin back out and weld the inside of the flywheel area. Also one of my flywheel cover mounting holes on the upper case is cracked which will be repaired. No shortage of work to do

OHHH LOL! Tim Lagow. Avoid at all costs. To make matters worse... that starter he said was gonna buy... you can imagine my reaction when I opened the package to find a $40 eBay Caltric starter, should make quite the nice paperweight or doorstop. On the plus side the stator he sent is OEM and works good. Too bad the starter was a metaphorical slap in the face.

Question: Powder coat cylinder then send to GroupK for hone and bore? Or vice versa?

Update: Cylinders taped up and ready for blasting.





Top cases welded.. Just need to clean up the new welds, remove some more casting flaws, and some light porting to go.

Why send to groupk for just a hone and bore? Should be able to go to any shop in town for that. And I would do it after.

I'm still looking into it, not much in this tiny town for machine shops.
