Super Jet My First RN Build - Complete rebuild, shorten, and rocker!

Finally got some spare time and worked on the reduction nozzle, steering/trim nozzle, ride plate, midshaft assembly, and case porting.

Almost all my pump assembly had literally 3-4 different layers of varying color paint.

After 25 minutes of sand blasting the just the ride plate... definitely need some paint stripper for the next attempt.

The midshaft assembly has some light peeling of the seal on the hull side and very minor fatigue cracking on the front rubber damper. Bearings spin freely and quiet so I'm hoping I can just glue/epoxy the peeled portion of the seal back to the housing and get a season or two out of it. Got my coupler off thanks to a spline tool from @JetManiac, saved me a ton of cursing and hammering lol.

All taped up and ready for blasting.

Here you can see the lip peeling up in 3 spots about an inch to two inches long. I peeled back the rubber as far as i could to expose any corroded sections. Next time I will clean the surfaces and epoxy the seal back on.

All cleaned up :)

Case porting is going pretty good. They are definitely far from finished though. I have a lot more material to remove and smooth out then sand blast to an even texture. Suggestions and tips always welcome :)

Main thing on my list is replacing all of the corroded wiring... which means replacing almost all of the wiring on the ski haha. I tore it all apart last week to start fixing it. The other thing I would like to do is make it breathe through the pole and build my own carbon hood, but I need to start that project soon if it stands a chance at being ready for summer.

Hey @HiImScott, I think Nick already told you about the restoration services for electrical systems with Jetski Solutions but here's the link: http://www.jetskisolutions.com/p82_...others_electric_case_restoration_service.html

Also @JetManiac offers Start and Stop harnesses for a good price, as well as most other electrical parts.

And I feel ya on the needing to get started, I'm in a rush as it is and I was hoping to do a rocker and shorten... Looks more like engine this year, and hull next year.

I think we're all feeling that pressure! More than likely, I'll be skipping a few plans until next winter as well.

Finally got the hull out to work on. Removed the pole and all cables then started sanding down the inside of the engine bay to prep for reinforcing. Seems one of the previous owners reinforced the top portion of the hull and added very small, nearly unnoticeable tubbies which need to be repaired. Here's some recent pics.

Obviously the sanding is polishing it up well, but I would recommend taking a pressure washer to it as well. You would be surprised at how much of a difference that will make in a short amount of time, especially in the tight areas that are tough to sand.

I wanted to pressure wash it however considering I plan on layering carbon over the entire engine bay I wanted to have a rough surface for the new epoxy to bond to. Not to mention the oil and gas that is soaked into the top layer of the hull. I think we're going to soda blast the tough spots around the engine mounts, maybe sand blast instead.
