I'm going to changethe jets, springs , needles on the carbs and put the bed plates on the motor and I'm going to look again at the pump shoe. Its still not perfect...close but not there. Does anyone know if its absolutly critical that it is perfectly lined up? Its real close I would say 1/8" max gap on top half.

It's pretty critical. You can mask some of it with 5200, but you really should do everything you can to get it as perfect as possible.

HAHA thats awesome. if anyone has any hints or advice that will save us some time on the build feel free to share it. i will keep you guys all well informed as the build goes on.IMG_1839.jpg

do yourself a favor and buy an OEM plastic pump shoe.

the blowsion aluminum pump shoes are JUNK and require a good amount of grinding to get them to fit.

i had a OEM plastic one in my Rickter FS-1, but has to "break" it off when i was doing my mold/hull projected.

when i went to put the hull back into comission, i picked up a blowsion aluminum shoe as they were available at my local supplier - never again!

great looking ski - the rickter skis are my favorite looking period.

well as you can see from the one picture above i had to grind a good 1/3" of an inch off (bout 2 1/2hrs of grinding) to get it to fit properly. I live in canada so parts are a minimum week away and i figured the alluminum stuff was better then plastic and only 10bucks more. YES now i wish i would of went with a plastic one that took alot of time out of my building.

yah the only thing i had going for me was that it was cast alluminum so it grinded down fast but nonthe less it was time consuming i would have brought it to a machine shop but it was late and i was strapped for time. oh well now its hammertime!!!(without any hammers i hope)

Im just gunna say a quick thankyou to x-h20 for hooking me up with 2 new friends who are coming down on sunday to help me build this and for basically giving me every piece of info on my build including the suppliers like badvinny,Thrust,Rickter,TC and many others. I dont think these guys can get enoughs thanks so just thought i would give them a shout out! Hopefully we can have er ripping by sunday!
THANKS GUYS

xr tech pump shoes are better than blowsion. all the holes are pre drilled and there is no grinding required on an sj but idk about rickters.

OK heres my problem maybe im going a little blind from working on this so late but the motor mount plates are to far apart for the bed plates. the motor sits in deep so you cant even see holes were you would put the bolt. if you look in the pics it is going to take alot of shimming or could rickter of screwed up and set the motor mount plates to far apart?

yeah, that looks a bit off..not sure how many shims you would need to get that straight..on the other hand shimming is not the best solution as the motor would go up...which is not good for balance...

Is your midshaft in yet? Just curious how the couplers line up height wise. If it needs to be shimmed up quite a bit, that may get you high enough that you can get the bolts in. It certainly does look like they are a little far apart though.

Yah the midshaft was in and I definetly need to shim the front of the motor a little bit but as it sits that's way to much. Ill flip the hull plates tonight when I get home. I really hope that's it. It makes sense that that would be it if not that will put this build on a heck of a stop.thank you for the quick help
