You're better off shortening the pole or putting a shortened turn plate.

Having the pole a few inches fore/aft isn't what makes the difference, it's where your body weight is. This changes the COG (center of gravity) of the ski. Shortening the pole or a shortened turn plate will do the same thing as moving the pole forward without any fiberglass work.

well cutting the pole and having it welded is harder for me to get done then redoing the mounting location. but i will try to find a shorter turn plate somewhere. any recommendations?? one that will work with my pole?

Bang for the buck is to see if jetmaniac has any x-metal straight bar systems. That could get you 3.5 inches maybe?

Are you currently running a straight bar setup or are you running a 0° bar with the bend in the middle? Dangerboy just posted a link earlier today about his new site and he sells a -1.75" turn plate for $69. It's nice but I already have the x-metal one.

There are also guys you have shortened their stock turn plate for a straight bar setup as well and I believe that gets -1.75" as well and you just need a metal cutter and a tap.

o i am running a straight bar setup right now. but it seems to stick out quite abit further than my buddies so i think its basically stock length.

The distance between the center of the bolt on my turn plate and the center of the bar is like 3". They're real close... Yours looks A LOT further than that.

yea mine is alot further than 3 inches. well maybe my buddy will let me try his and that will solve my problem. if not ill just move the pole up to where urs is and get a shorter turn plate which should make my motor being set back two inches kind of equal out. i just watched ur video again and urs rides great compared to mine right now. hopefully mine will ride nice like that sooon.

Here are some quick measurements from my ski. Center of pole bolt to the front edge of the ski is 8"-8.5" depending on where you take the measurement (center of ski to side). Center of the pole bolt to the back of the nose is about 13.5"-14" (estimate since the back is curved). Center of the handlebars to the center of the pole bolt is 40.5" measured in a straight line.

Y'all got me thinking about the distance from the front to the pole bolt.lt comes out to 6.5" from the center of the pole bolt to the front edge. l'm using a standard lenght 07 sj pole.l bought the Xscream adjustable steering system,so l should have some flexability on distance. This could be interesting.

A shortened OEM pole would be best for those hulls, they have FOAM and are the lightest out there.
Good to see another one on the water!!

heres the turn plate i tried out today and it helped out a ton. actually could ride the thing and see how it handles and i like it. ive got a video uploading. i think im just going to make a new turn plate and make it as short as possible and i think ill be pretty happy with it. maybe a little longer ride plate would help, but id have to make one and dont really feel like doing that. now the only problem im having is think the carbs are too rich. does the cold water affect that very much? as in once the water warms up will it burn the fuel better and not be as rich, if so i wont mess with it. i know these carbs were tuned by team scream for just a ported 701 which is basicly what i have so just checking to see if i should mess with it or not.

If teamscream did not tune the carbs specifically for your motor there is a good chance that they could use some tweaking.

That's a really ghetto looking turn plate for sure... Glad to hear it worked though. I've got the stock turn plate back on my ski but if you're interested, I could be persuaded to trade my x-metal turn plate for your R&D turn plate. Send me a PM if you're interested.
