I've tried a ton of different options including making my own gaskets with generic sheets with metal core... None work as well as the green ones you can buy.

I personally wouldn't run without a head pipe gasket... It'll most certainly make a mess at the least and could potentially damaged the manifold and head pipe. Plus if the pipe isn't sealed very well it could leave you stranded for a little while with an engine bay full of exhaust in frozen waters.

so u dont even think itd be ok to use some rtv for a quick test ride? looking the the headpipe it has a black rubber gasket on it, not a green one. but i didnt realize that until looking at it right now. i dunno if itll work or not? its stuck on there pretty good.

If it has some kind of gasket, you may be ok. It's probably just black from oil and exhaust. I doubt RTV will hold up. I've tried regular gasket material that has blown out in about 10 minutes, silicone material that blew out in less, copper gasket maker like rtv with a metal core gasket and that lasted a day, etc. I could probably have enough gaskets to last a lifetime is I wasn't so cheap...

well no test ride today, but i got it running. need to get another hose clamp for the bpipe and some primer line, and get all the cooling lines hooked up. but i got everything else done today. so im planning on taking it out thursday.

lol alright. well ill just order one then. but i may try to see what i can come up with for tommorow.

just go to the auto parts store and get a sheet of gasket material, you can make one real quick, it should shurely last for at least a test ride or two...

i've used sheets of gasket material before...it allowed me to ride that day until a replacement came in. I specifically made one for the exhaust mani to bpipe head and it lasted about 3 days before my OEM type gasket came in. I didn't notice any decrease in performance and I only changed it to be safe. As a caveat though, I was very careful with my template and used and exacto knife to cut and sculpt the final project.
