Custom/Hybrid my stunt hull build

well while the video is converting ill explain how it rode. i only took two short test runs because of how cold the water was but at first it seemed really nose high. i couldn't get the nose down to actually ride the thing, which made it not be able to hook up because no water was getting to the intake. so i cruised around a little and it is deffinatly going to take some getting used to. i wont know until i ride it again but it almost seems like i need to move the handpole down a couple more inches to get it to level off, so it will hook up. but i didnt have any problems and everything went well. video will be up in i think about 20 minutes.

Funny... That's exactly the opposite effect that I had. I'm thinking your pole is too far back. I can't tell for sure because you don't have a pic of where your bars are located in relation to the tray but here is a quick photo edit between my hull and yours comparing the mount location.

Yeah geez dude... You couldn't keep your nose down for anything. I don't think relocating the pole now is going to be the best idea. Maybe shorten the pole? Shortened turn plate?

My pole is standard length but the turn plate and straight bars take off about 3 inches from the stock bar location. What is the straight distance between your pole bolt and your bars (center to center)?

Here are some quick measurements from my ski. Center of pole bolt to the front edge of the ski is 8"-8.5" depending on where you take the measurement (center of ski to side). Center of the pole bolt to the back of the nose is about 13.5"-14" (estimate since the back is curved). Center of the handlebars to the center of the pole bolt is 40.5" measured in a straight line.

Where is your mount in relation to mine? If they're only an inch apart, that won't make all that much difference I wouldn't think.

from the center of the pole bolt its 11.5 inches to where it starts to turn down on the top, and about 9 to where the turf starts on on the nose. so about 3 inches further back then yours. how did you know where to mount yours at?

how did you know where to mount yours at?

I used two methods. First, I took a measurement from my footholds on my last hull to where the pole mounts. Then I took that measurement and tried to duplicate that distance on my stunt hull based on where the footholds were located. Once I found that, I checked to see where the flattest spot for my mount would be on the bottom side so I wouldn't have to build up quite so much underneath. My plan was to take an average of the two but they were only 1/2" from each other so I went with the flattest spot to aid in installation.

Could it be due to where the engine is placed?
Maybe yours is a few more inches towards the rear?

Good call. He's using the GP midshaft which is a couple inches further back than mine. I forgot about that. I believe his battery is located in the back as well and mine is in the front. Wow that's 3 things contributing to the nose high problem.

yea thats possible. but i think the problem is the pole location. when i cut it out i was actually thinking it was going to be too far forward. i dont see a way around redoing where that bracket goes and maybe just filling in the holes with epoxy and putting a sticker over it or something.

Well if you're serious about redoing the bracket location, composite scarfing is going to be your best solution. That is the best way to restore the strength of that area. It basically involves sanding down a layer at a time with at least a 1/4" between each layers. Then you just fill in each section one layer at a time until it's flush with the surface again. The problem is going to be that you'll end up with a big oval around the old mount where there is no paint. I'll try to find some info on it if you're unfamiliar.

True... The battery could be relocated fairly easily I would think but the engine location would be a pain in the butt to change.

o i see. so ur saying if i just fill it in with epoxy it wont be strong enough???

yea the battery is a really light one. couple pounds tops, but the motor is two inches further back then his so that is proablly playing a factor in it too. but i think if i fix the handpole then it will be make the motor being set back a positive.
