Looks good. Only thing I would change is the rear of where your seat would be. Why not slant it on an angle all the way to the back of the hull? Fill in the areas on both sides that are all speckled on Paint Brush. Then slant the back down. Will make getting back on easier.
Also smooth out the transition where the deck pad above the seat goes. A lok of corners to bust yourself on.
Also since you are doing a bunch of glass work why not a front hull mod?
I think you did a great job of reinforcing the engine compartment. I always wondered about grinding down the ribs. I always planned on doing the top ones and cutting the glass around the bottom ribs. Your reinforcing job looks clean though!
I will post up a pic of the through hull cable things I talked about a long time ago during the defoaming.
Any hood or steering trim mods?
Finally where and how much did the new UMI cost you? I need to bite the bullet and get me one. I would rather pay top dollar for new then junk on eBay that goes for almost new. WTF is up with people bidding stuff to the moon?
DBR
PS Shawn, I think the 24-7 hull will be the exact same way. Just two layers of 25mm padding and turf.
And some guy on PWCT was looking for an aluminum wheel. Search my username. I told him to hit yuou up. I didn't think you sold yours on eBay.
DBR,
I woul dhave liked to done the hull mod, and had ideas similar to what you drew up, etc. The way it's done, was the easiest and simplest way I could find to accomplish what I wanted. I could have done the extra things mentioned, but I could have just not done them WAY easier, haha. I'll say this, I have a lot of ideas now for the next one.
I considered cutting off that area above the seat at the top that sticks out, but it would have to be filled and smoothed, as my squirrel cage takes that area up.
As for the front hull mod, I figure I want to try it with tubbies first. Don't want to go all out just yet until I know how this rides. I'll probably buy the 24/7 front piece if I decide to do this.
For now I don't really have any desire to mod a hood. Not that I don't want too, it's just that I don't have the time. I work out of town ALL the time, so I get little time to work on this stuff. I had big plans for one until I saw the 24/7 hood. I've got my name in line for a hood, so I'll have that ASAP. For now I'll be running a stock hood I'll mod slightly to get a lot more air flow.
I'll definitely be doing some steering mods shortly. It's about time to fit the pump, etc and get the trim/steering worked out before the paint goes on.
As for the UMI, the cheapest place I have found it was A&D. They have taken forever on some stuff I've ordered in the past, so I got in touch with them and made sure they could get this in a timely manner. Ended up taking about 2, maybe 3 weeks tops and I have a brand new UMI for around $290, with free shipping to my front door! WELL worth that money considering everyone want $200-250 for a worn out one. I highly recommend it. I was a little disappointed that it doesn't come with their quick turn steering plate. You have to bolt your stock steering arm in, haha. Anyway, everywhere else I looked was 325-350 for a new UMI. Just make sure and stay on A&D to get it to you, and you'll have it reasonably fast. They had to order it, and when they got it in they shipped it out to me.
