My X2 Build

you did a great job on ski, how were your colling lines did they have any cracks in them
Thanks. And yeah the cooling lines were all shot. I re-plumber the ski with all stainless steel lines. All the stock ones were JUNK. They were flimsy, and had frozen and cracked on the inside. All new now!!:bananalama:

Can't wait Shawn. Just got my engine back, should be painting hull today, assembling tomorrow/sat hopefully test run sunday.

Pictures really don't do it justice. Paint was meant to be a "Rat-rod" ski and not be pretty, but it turned out pretty. haha. I'm building this ski solely for ripping, not looking good. Thats why I chose flat black. The camera didn't really get the best pics, so it doesn't look as good as it really is. For some reason it looks like there are spots on the paint, guess it was just water/moisture on the camera lens. This picture is after about 4-5 coats of paint, and 4-5 coats of low-luster clear. FLAT. Bling, bling.
Off to the shop for some assembly time.

dave was taking the pics.

and below the progress continues :brap:
a lot has gone on in just a few days
this was nothing but a solid hull and a bunch
of boxes full of parts just a couple days ago

Man that looks good. Off to the shop once again, more wrenching. I think I ought to be able to fire this baby up tonight.

Lookin good addict ! I can see your Binks HVLP system in the last photo !!LOL

Well I tried fitting a second left side support, so I would have two of the deeper ones. After bending it up a little I got it to fit in, but then my steering hit it. So I just tried the stock right side, and it fit. The picture we put in was all a dry fit to make sure it was ready to start assembly, and as of then it bolted in with about a 1/2" of clearence to the support. It was tight.

Wish I had better news my friend!! Got the ski completely together last night. Had all kinds of little obstacles to overcome, as anyone who as ever tried fitting dual carbs and a b-pipe in an X2 with tubbies already knows. PITA. Anyway, got it all done, at the last minute the brass water fitting going into my headpipe snapped off. ARHGHGHHH!! All that, to have it killed. Anyway, I had some other issues. Didn't think about having to run a restricting jet in the return lines on these buckshot carbs. Engine just ran off when I fired it after the shot I put in the carbs went. Once it was burning the fuel from the tank it would just run off. After thinking it over we realized, no return line restriction.. I'm thinking that would starve these carbs QUICK. So I'm heading back now to try and get the water fitting out and replaced, and T the return lines into the smallest main jet I have, think it's a 77.5. Hopefully that will make a difference. If not, out comes the engine. Overall with all the little things I had to mod and figure out, I'm not too upset that I'm having a FEW problems. Although I couldn't sleep thinking about that engine winding out. But it sounded GREAT while doing it. haha.
Back to it once again. Wish me luck!
