You might want to think as early as possible, if you look at the video at the top, that was middle of July last year, as you notice the water is about 50 yards from the rim and it's hard to set up a ski stand with that kind of a slope. Like I said, it was also about 110 degrees and a few people had close to a heat stroke(it does not happen every year). In May the lake was about 6 feet from the fire pit! It drops about 6 a day in summer, no lie. The best group campground at Shasta is Dekkas Rock, then it's individual sites at Ellery Creek. The other on Mc Cloud arm are not jet ski friendly(no beach, or approach). There might be other great spots on the lake, like boat in only campgrounds, but we need someone from Redding to chime in, that know the lake better.

Can you camp on shasta shore?

Thats whats nice about camp far is you pull your truck to the shore and set up camp. Camp far just has no house boats.

East Park, don't forget east park! It's $#%@!# free! And probably closer for most.

And the boat launch is right at your campsite! We have somebody who always brings a wakeboard boat too. Not a rich man yacht, but it works. I went twice this last year, did my first backflip. Don't rule eastpark out. I'll invite everyone when we go again. June at the earliest.

Bullard bar is absolutely stunning in the summer. But I will say at the elevation my ski did not run well, lost a lot of bottom end grunt and no place to camp right on the water unless you have a good houseboat or pontoon to get your stuff out to the location on the lake. Most spots are 1/4-1/2 mile from the lake.

I heard Berryessa was opening back up their shoreline camping area, not sure if that is correct. Anyone?

Shasta might be your best bet

I would say being close to your skis is important, since we have so much money in them. Campsite on the water, important.
Bigger lakes are better because there is not as much chop from the boats.
Trees are a plus.
Amenities are a plus but not a must. Toilets, running water, Gas within half hour.....those are the basics.
Natural beauty, clean water....
Low elevation is always good.

With all these in mind how would you rate the lakes ? My number 1 goes out to Shasta after that I need your input.

Interested in Eastpark, but know squat about it. As far as being able to to camp/launch in the same spot. I'm leaning towards CFW, but I haven't been there yet either.

Freestyle skis like the camp/launch/ride spot to be one in the same. House boat will be tough, as most skis will have to be on the houseboat for transport.

Thoughts?

Eastpark sounds interesting. This is the first ive heard about it.

CFW is nice since the lakes pretty big when its full and its a camp/launch/ride. Theres tons of land so theres no problem with fitting everyone together. The only thing CFW doesnt have is running water and nice bathrooms. Theres porto pottys around the lake and as long as we get close to them it wont be bad. Fuel is about 15-20 minutes in the town of wheatland or myself or if tyrant1919 is willing to, can sponsor people onto beale afb and you can get fuel there and thats about 5 minutes away. There is a little general store at the entrance where you can get little things like ice, beer, smokes etc. The lake is fed by a river and you can ride up the river a good bit. Its not real bad rapids but its still fun.
