Mmkkk for one don't plan on camping at Shasta on any major holiday not that it gets to crazy but if you want to have a real good time less is more ;-)

"Mariners point" camping pay per night usually 1-2 portapotties there is trees with nice shade. the ground will be verry slight slope untell the watter is down 40+ from the tree line. then there is fairly steep spots but a road to launch from. At about 150 ft from the tree line you get a bunch of more flat but at the cost of rideable water.. this is a good spot we ride here for the beginning of the year.

"Jones valley"
Lots of flat area, few trees, not much shade, back in a cove the watter cops will sometimes try and say the whole arm is a slow zone, more chances for annoying non skiers. The only plussess I see is that its closer to the bar and convenience store and the grochery/gas station..

There is a grochery store/ cheveron gas station within 30minutes 15miles. The road from mariners to jones valley it is real winding hence the 20 minutes for 7 miles or so. The rest of the road to the grochery store is not as bad. There is a convenice store right at the end of the road to mariners but don't buy anything but beer or tackle there! There is also a bar grill right here..

There is many other camp sites but in my opinion way to far from services to chose as a ride camp spot.. the marinas only sell 86 octane.. I can post some pictures with some diagrams of these locations when I get my computer back tomorrow..

this is mariners at the beginning of the year campground behind me..

If you guys plan a Shasta trip save the day you leave half of it for a ride on the river the flows should be up and there should be one or 2 hits going good..

One Shasta and one East Park Lake trip would be cool to 'schedule' so everyone can join if they wish. I vote EPL in June and Shasta July/Aug. Someone who has a static schedule pick dates and we'll see what works. Just about anything works for me as long as I get an advance notice.

Thanks for the info, never even heard of the Mariners, http://www.fs.usda.gov/wps/portal/f...ke+Area+-+Mariners+Point+Shoreline+Campground
Looks like it's first come first serve, right? Looks good but what are the chances of getting a spot in mid week? We usually go to McCloud arm, Ellery creek, Hirtz bay, Dekkas rock....

Shasta looks good in June and July, after that it starts to drop super fast. Late July she might be half full thanks to Southern California's thirst.

UPDATE!!! SHASTA LAKE !!!!
We are shooting for July 8th Monday through July 12th Friday. Leave Monday come back Friday. All campgrounds jet ski friendly with reservations are booked, even Ellery Creek. So we are going to take a chance on Mariners Point with a back up of a couple different drive up campgrounds. I called Forest Service, and there is no way to reserve Mariners point. We do have some family in Redding, so we will send them out to the campground day or two prior to arrival for scouting. I will scout the other back up campgrounds this February and will post the report. We will more likely have a boat or two with us ,so a boat in campground is a possibility if nothing else. I have no idea who is coming from my side of the friends at this time but it could be anywhere from 1 family (us) to aprox. 4 families. The group is made of mostly 30 something guys and gals, with kids mostly teenagers. The video on Dekkas Rok at the beginnig of this thread will give you an idea . Possible two boats, and defenitely my 4 skis including a couch, wakeboards , tubes , skis and all kinds of fun stuff. Fishing in the evening and morning, water sports during the day, fire at night. That's about the descripiton of our camp.
We take off in the morning , make two stops at Honey Lake and Bogart, then lunch in Redding ( in n out) , then off to the campsites. Anyone local interested in meeting up with us let me know.
Please limit the size of the group, since there is only 7 campsites. You can PM me with your number and we can discuss if you would like more info.

That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it!!

I went to Oroville for the first time last weekend. Sick spot with alot of house boats for rent and some really cool spots with boat access only.
Buddy lives there and we can get a couple of Vwakes going with his bros.

Like I already said I'm down for oroville! I know some sweet spots that the water stays calm, and could definitely round up some of my homies boats for some v wakes and house boat chillin. Loafer creek is one camp area, along with camp spots near the marina. Maybe we could even Have a seperate get together up here?

Almost time. So Shasta is the only dates we have nailed down? I'll post all of my ski and camp trips here this summer. I should have one Memorial weekend.

Memorial day confirmed at East Park. I'll be there. Friday to Monday. Camping is free. Plenty of space. Should be a minimum of 5 skis, probably more. If anyone nearby East Park lake wants to check it out for a day, or stay a night or two, come on out. Bring your own food/beer. Fire at night, good times. If anybody is interested PM me if you have questions or post here whatever. I'll be bringing lots of gas.

Yeah, so far Shasta is the only one I can pull off. If anything changes on my end, I will post.
