This past August Mcdog setup a nice little freeride where McBob got her cherry popped (or his balls busted) by some of the Florida boys...Berky, Jetmaniac, Aircraftsalz, Lucaumpits, Crashnburn, Blue...forget whoelse came up. There were 3 Superfreaks. I got to ride 2. I missed out on Lucas's ski due to wrenching (and being pissed at myself), but after that day I was hooked on how I was loving the ride of the Superfreak hull. So, I called up Berky a few days later and put my order down on a glass 'Freak.

Tem/Berky was fantastic to work with as a builder. I was a bit apprehensive, but Tem's easy going disposition and willingness to answer questions made it a whole lot less stressful than I imagined. It took about 5 weeks from order to delivery and nearly 5 days of that was a botched shipping order. I got my hull this past Tuesday (9/21). Hull weight with scupper tube, exhuast tube, battery tray, and nose piece was 77.5 lbs. Tem made up a carbon/glass hood to go with it 7.5lbs for grand total of 85lbs. It's a bit heavier than the carbon, but my wallet is alot happier I made the glass choice.

I got to work pretty quick on Tuesday. Got the whole hull, hood, and nose sanded down with 100 and 150 and then gave it a nice bath with H2O and some acetone. I took it over to my boy Waternuts house for some primer action. Again (I'll be saying this alot) Tem was great. Instead of me having to go buy a $50 quart/can of epoxy primer Tem gave it to me for free...it was even garlic flavored (see pic). Waternut and I mixed it 1:1 and shot it on there nice and thick. John/Waternut dose a nice job with a spray gun

Im pretty pumped WAB. I'm praying for no snags and getting this thing built by sunday for a launch. Rain is expected sunday...50%. We haven't had rain for 2 months and now we got 3-4 days coming. Air temps are gonna drop like 12-15 degrees. water is already cooling off. winter sucks.

I took it home from John's that night (9/22) let it dry and attacked it with sandpaper on 9/23. I worked it over with the sander and my hands. Gave it another bath and prep'd for paint Thursday evening. Got my paint from TPC global. It's a single stage enamel. Dark pewter firemist is the color. Waternut handled the gun once again. I think we got a total of 4 coats on it. Planning on giving it 24 hours dry time...with some baking time in the sun today. Trying to get out there this evening and get the top deck painted. I'm happy with how it turned out.

Thanks Boyer. Just posted some paint pics of bottom deck. Hoping to shoot the topdeck here in a hour or so. The lake never freezes here. We get water temps in the low 50's...atleast as cold as I've been willing to check. I'm a cold wuss. I rode last year up until November. It was sparingly, but I got a dry suit off a friend so maybe I can extend the riding season a bit this year. We'll see how brave I get with riding this year.

I had been thinking about hulls this past year with Waternut getting his Highroller dialed in and Mcdog getting a Bob setup. I'm real psyched about this hull. This is a standard length hull. The other guys had -2" hulls and rode great, but after I had rode Berky's I liked it better. I doubt my arse will ever see Michigan again (Ohio boy but luvn the south). You're welcome to hit Ga anytime and check me for a ride on our lake. I had an awesome time with the FL crew. Maybe Mcdog/Waternut and I can get a regular thing going. We were hoping to have an aftermarket hull extravaganza that weekend. Rickters, Bobs, Highrollers, Superfreaks, Trinity's. WE MISSED HAVING BOYER THERE.
That is the exact hull I have been wanting to ride. Get that thing built and head up here to MI for some fresh water surf!

I'll attach some bigger pics. Not sure sure what happens to pablo's. I jacked up the top deck tonight on the last coat and it got some heavy runs. I'm blaming it on the gun since half the air passages had gotten clogged up and it was spitting and sputtering. I attacked the gun afterwards and got it cleaned out but we lost a day.

Looking great ! John your doing awesome job on the paint, the bottom and other stuff looks perfect , if you think your going to get a run stop , painting can be a pain if the gun isn't close to perfect as far as the air and paint orifices, I have learned that lesson more that I care to admit . On a cheap gun I use a gas torch tip cleaner in a pinch . Gregg I'm sending more decals out today.
