I'd buy a sea doo spark before this thing. I give them credit for trying but I see too many issues with it.

looks like it was based off one of these:

Cool concept and nice to see new ideas coming out, but it looks like it would get real boring real fast. Any information on the engine?

Product Features:
1. The BomBoard comes apart in 4 modules for easy transportation and storage and assembles in 1 minute.-That's cool actually. The portability is impressive. But a hitch hauler and a ski seems pretty easy too, and a standup does not take up much space..You can easily lift it with two people onto a hauler.
2. The total weight is 150 lbs. with the heaviest module weighing 80 lbs vs. weight of other jet skis typically over 800 lbs.-Really? It's light weight and it doesn't look like it can do much lol. You can get an aftermarket hull that's 250 lbs RTR and can backflip off of idle..Yes that's more expensive, but you get the point.
3. The BomBoard can reach speeds of 40 mph, which is similar to low end competitors.-So can a kawi 550 for well less than 1000$ total.
4. Riders can make sharp turns either standing up, crouching on their knees or sitting go-kart style. So basically it's a light weight Sea-doo 3D? Or you could buy an x2 for much cheaper and have a very similar ride as it's still deemed a standup..or.. you can also ride a 500$ yami wr500 and make sharp turns standing up or sitting down too. lol
5. The anticipated price of $3,495 (or $99 per month if financed) makes it the least expensive jet ski on the market.-An RN with mods could be found at about this price. But hey, having new stuff is always nice. You could find a square, and have a freshly rebuilt engine from a new crank up, along with a pipe, head, & a hooker prop for probably less than 3500$, and there you go with a very reliable setup.

Honestly, have they ever heard of a stand up jet ski?

Or have they actually set foot in a watercraft showroom in the last 15-20 years?
I honestly kind of feel bad for these guys. I don't want to crush their dreams, but it's not all that innovative. I've seen like jet powered boogie boards, all kinds of jet powered other stuff claiming to be the next generation of PWCs, but they don't ever seem to make it anywhere.

You cant fault them for trying. I'm sure the education they got while making this is priceless. Even though they dont have a marketable product imo, they did an excellent job.

I'm with you on that. For a college project, I'm sure they learned an absolute ton. It's just kind of sad to think they put all that time and effort to come up with something that isn't really innovative. But yeah, if you look at it from a student perspective and what they learned from it, it's quite an accomplishment, but I wonder what they were basing it off of, because it looks like they made it without any consideration of what a standup jetski is capable of, and how much potential a standup has.

That's right. In reality it's no different than the stock car or drag car that high school students built in shop class. It was never meant to be a top winner. It's more about learning the skills on how to do it.

I want to see what they wanted to build, had they not been limited to a school's budget.

EDIT: It wasn't a college project, it's a retired man working on this.
