I know this is not "OUR" thing as stand up riders / racers / freeriders, etc. It is not intended to be.....
I just wanted to get a broad exposure for the survey. Not just business men, and people who are NOT into PWC's. IMO it is an interesting concept, and I think will have a market. The machine shown is just one of many concepts / prototypes, it is totally hand made, and in rough form. It is really just for testing hull designs. When they go to production, there will be many changes, and will have a sleek much more finished look.
Again, I really do appreciate your time, and HONESTY, even if you do not agree or like this. It is OK, and could help with any other future changes.
Also to be clear, this is not my company. They started as a customer of mine, and lately I have been involved in working with them, with assembly of the prototype, changes, etc. There are things to come. ( larger engine, and more HP in the near future.)
These are good guys, with great ideas and connections. I am excited to be able to be involved. Should be fun helping bring something to market.
This has a lot of potential with a dramatic design change. I think they need to redevelop their market, or I should say, their craft function. It's great in the concept of portability but I believe it will fail because it fails at everything except portability. However, I strongly believe this could be highly successful if modified to be more functional.
This ski is very confused in it's identity and will fail just like the 3D did. The 3-D is a 2-person hull that accommodates only 1 rider. It's awkward to stand on. The motocross seat is impossible to stay on riding aggressively. The motor mounts and other parts fail with wave jumping and etc. The only thing great about the 3D is cart mode, which costs extra, and wears off.
That ski is long and awkward and is suffering from an identity crisis. It's a cross between a mini cigarette boat, a jet ski and a claw machine. I think this could be successful with two simple changes...
Hull design: Change to SXR, Superjet, X2, Seadoo Xp (gen 1), B1, etc stand up or early sport class ski. The length of the ski does not say sporty. It says bass boat.
Make a decision: Is it a fixed steer or a stand up? Look at the X2 guys. A huge trend is flat decking them. I bet if the X2 came with gunnels instead of a seat you would see less flat decks. Stand up riders move, and they move a lot. If it's a stand up, ditch the seat. Even the 3D got that. If it's a sit down however, build a stop (hull mounted steering so you don't slide forward on the seat) and a properly sized seat. I ride a X2. The stock X2 seat is NOT for sitting. My tall seat works well, and I occasionally sit on my stock seat (go kart style), but the low seat is only for calm, it hurts in the chop.
The portability is awesome. The style and the function will cause the flop. Keep it portable and keep it cheap. However, shorten the nose about 2 feet, take note of every jet ski on the market and ditch the bass boat style bottom deck, put a fixed steer and a proper seat OR remove the seat and put a proper pole.
Cheap and portable will sell, but not at the cost of function, and our society also expect style.
