Freestyle Power Factor Pipe Myth

NVJAY775

My home away from home.
At some time this summer I'm going to grab a pf and put it on my beat ported 771 and see what I can get it to do compared to my fp b limited. I'm going bigger motor next winter, so I'll just get the pipe first and see how it does haha!

Hopefully someone else will take the initiative to waste some time on a smaller cc motor and see how a fp can do. Roo's didn't seem bad at all for what it was.

I'm putting the PFP on a Jetmaniac 771 setup in the next week or so... Just been busy last few wks so haven't had time...

Heres the details,
jetmaniac 62t/62t 771 ported / epoxy etc 200 psi compression
boyeson intake with FS 49's
msd TL
power factor pipe

Running a 144 stock pump, going to try a 10/16 hooker but I thing a 11/17 is going to be right....

I'm wait on my Dasa 1200 and 148 mag so I thought I would try this setup just to see... I think it's going to be cold Sunday so maybe I'll drop this motor in

The PF pipe is very very close to a Type9 /Octane pipe. I ran one on a 771 full super stock race engine, (215 psi, MSD TL, 142 mag pump) built by my buddy Ed Brazina. The motor hit hard and ran 7760 rpm. One day it just wouldn't get going, no bottom end. I realized that I forgot to plug in the msd water injection. It was amazing, without the water injection it was a turd, with- it hit hard. We then moved the pipe onto a cast pv cylinder mod engine of the same cc. Couldn't tell the difference with or without the water injection.

I just installed MSD Tl in the superjet. A few good tips from Mark Baxter at Powerfactor and Brian from Thrust and I was able to do it with no problems. I took my time with all the connections and mounting. I would DEFINITELY pick the Power Factor pipe over the MSD anyway of the week. MSD helped but the pipe had me grinning for a week.

build two but one bigger than the other. Cut the bigger one in half and slide it over the smaller one. You would have to weld spacers in between the two. But idk how they are put together I have never cut a dry pipe in half. Or just make it a wet pipe like b pipe but with the better PF design. Just looking at all the retarded angle loopdeloops the exhaust has to do just shows how inefficient they are. Same with the carbs, they suck from the top and make a right angle into the motor. But obviously thats how it has to be to fit in the hull and not suck water.

My guess the b pipe lacks easy flow but has a longer expansion chamber starting from the manifold going all the way to the side of the gas tank thus making the power curve lower. But lacking the flow to support higher reving HP.

PF pipe has a way better design even though I think the cast collector could have been built with less right angles in it. But the better flowing less sharp curves make more power. Also the shorter expansion chamber. Like I have read a b limited chamber makes more low end than the shorter mod chamber. Im guessing thats why your supposed to put the mod chamber on a bigger motor, because the bigger motor makes more low end anyways.

This brings me to the stock yamaha bread box. WTF is that. why does it even allow the engine to run?

Hopefully I dont get flamed for this post but these are just observations. I have never even seen these pipes in person (untill the one I bought shows up). Just throwing out ideas to try and get educated on the black art of 2 stoke pipes.

Holes in your theory, like holes in the front of you boat (side exhaust) Exhaust flow does not always Work: least resistance = more power.

the reason that pipe worked as well as it did was because of the TL. try an enhancer and get back to us :p
