Other Power Factor Pipe Users - Requesting measurements for custom gas tank

I'm making the PFP plunge. The only reason I didn't initially get it was because of the limited size of tank you could run. I rarely run more than 2.5 gallons but occasionally need to. (Oceanside, Jack London) I'd like to design a bigger one using the unique geometry as efficient as possible. My goal is 4 gallons. I'm unsure if it's reachable/feasible since I currently don't have one available to measure. I would like to request some help. Could I get a few people to measure out the dimensions they have available length and width wise for a gas tank between their PFP w/waterbox. If you could measure every inch or so both ways (Front to back and side to side) that'd give me a fairly close idea of the curves I have to worry about. I'd also like to get a height measurement too. Let me know what hull you have too, not that it should matter too much, but just in case there's any difference. There's a few other ways to measure it I'm sure, whatever works for you will work for me. I'll make a rough cad drawing with enough room to allow for pipe movement and general "Not everyone's PFP will have the same available area" variance. Then send it to a marine tank maker for a rough estimate on roto molding. If it's feasible cost wise, I'll cut out a foam mock up by hand and test for clearance. I should be able to get a test clearance on a Backie Chan, BobG3, Hurricane, and a Rok. Once that's done, I'll modify my CAD drawing if needed and send an order to the manufacturer. They may be able to make a mold out of my foam mock up. I'd like to incorporate the standard Yamaha style fuel cap, although not necessarily needed if it increases manufacturing costs too much. If and when I'm ready to order, I wouldn't mind ordering with a few other people if they're interested. Major limiting factor is cost, so if the estimate is too much (which I honestly think it is tooling up the mold since I can't find any ballpark numbers anywhere online), I may not consider. If anybody has any knowledge on molding, hit me with some knowledge.

Thanks for the post. Ok, looks like there's interest. That guy made a 5 gal tank, very impressive. Since I saw a pic of the 3 gallon Jaz, I'm positive 5 is reachable. Alright, that motivates me a bit more.

Lemme know what you come up with and if you need a hand with it at all. I'm right down the street and might have a tank builder for you.

Yeah, I'll hit you up. Would like to find somebody local. I just need to find somebody with a PFP in my local area to measure off of... Str8huckin! Too bad ski clinic isn't open on Mondays...

You can always do this until you get a tank figured out. It's ghetto, but cheap. I had the tank and added about $25 worth of hardware.

Cannibal where u get the fuel fittings from and rubber bushings ?

I'll look around, they were cheap, about $7-8 IIRC, plus the clunk in the tank. I did find out that a Ryobi weed eater gas cap fits those tanks and actually has a one way valve built into the cap, so you don't need to drill it out and install another fitting and separate one way, so even cheaper.

pretty sure Thrust and Cold Fusion have them

Yes they do, but they are like $50. If this was a more permanent plan, I would have went that way.

I got those same fittings from aircraft spruce. I'll post up a link and part#s and prices tonight. It was 25.00 total incl shipping for everything I needed. I'm trying like hell to make a RCI 2040D tank work that is a 4 gallon plastic tank. The minute I have a motor I will be able to let everyone know if that deal will work.

Thanks Josh, you da man. Thanks Gil. I plan on having a complete CAD drawing done by Sunday night or Monday, I'll youtube my result. Then send out to a few places for quotes.

See drawings below. I'm just waiting to find someone to make one. Prolly go with aluminum. Will hold a antigravity battery on top of tank. Haven't decided 100% if I want to add an OEM spec spout to it for my fancy aluminum pickups.
