My hard date is middle of May. I go down to Parker Arizona/Co river every summer to visit my father so it has to be done by then. I'm hoping to water test end of April.

I went ahead and took an air compressor and popped it out of the mold. I'm pretty happy with it. It does flex a bit but it really doesn't need a lot of structure. When I glass it in I may add a little extra fiberglass.

I was hoping I could get some opinions on how I should cut the holes for the breathers. I am leaning toward something like in the picture. I think It flows nice with the lines, would breathe more than needed and would drain quickly since it goes fairly far down the hood liner, I will also have small drains in the very bottom like most hood liners. The holes would also double as great hand holds for when I remove the hood.

It's already breathing through the back corners. No need to cut holes there. Dry bilges matter.

Looking at the size of the hole I could cut in the corner I was afraid it would not flow enough air. It seems like it would be the equivalent of a couple of 1.5" tubes at best. I did get the hood liner to drop down where I can open the holes to the max size but even then I thought it was going to choke the motor a bit.

If I can get away without visible holes all the better in my opinion, It would look better and as you said stay dryer.

I'm rolling with a stock round nose Pole for a little bit. Eventually a breather style pole is in my future. I think I've read you can fit one 1.5 tube up into the stock pole and get a little bit of benefit.

My bracket is setup for dual 2in breathers but there is no way I get anything close to that in a stock Pole.

soak the RN Pole in Gas. the Foam will dissolve!!!!!! But you would lose strength.

Nothing a few layers of biax wouldn't fix I imagine. It gets fairly small again up toward the steering plate, I imagine the largest effective size I could run would be a single 2" hose. Once the foam was dissolved I could run a long section of 2" hose the length of the pole and fill around it with two part foam when done, getting some of the strength back at the expense of weight. It doesnt solve the pole being a bit too short but its a temporary solution to get me on the water this summer.

Are we sure its the stuff that dissolves? The nose foam doesn't and I though it was the same stuff.

Thanks for the ideas, Im loving them.

I just had a thought, doesn't that make napalm? I dont think thats a good idea.

I could chunk it out with a long drill bit if I decided to go that way.

You can add lizard skin vents to the hood on the bulk head side. Leave the foam in the pole. Look how I reinforced the bottom of mine on my build. Pulled the rivets out twice. There is a lot of force on the pole when you land on your side with it extended. Just my 2cents

I spent some of yesterday and a little bit of today Fairing and sanding the hood. I just covered it in 9 oz glass and I am very happy with the result.

Probably a dumb question... But are you putting wax or something on the duct tape to act as 'mold release' or does the resin just not stick to duct tape?

I have tried it both ways with good luck. The carnuba wax made it a bit easier to peel it but I did not wax on the hood liner or toe hold and they popped out without much fuss. I dont think I am going to bother with wax in the future, it really doesnt do much.

Weight at this point?

The hood is 11 lbs at this point and will likely be 15 when its got hoses in it and the liner is glassed in. The hull I can still dead lift around by myself but I dont have a weight on it. I may grab the bathroom scale and weigh the hull as it is and what I have cut out. I have cut out a lot of weight, I got a 2x2 pile of stuff I cut off.
