Here is what I was talking about @Storbeck . I have not layed the glass over it or blended it in with cabosil but the general shape is finished. I used a layer of 3/8 neoprene with contact cement to get the larger shape and covered it in duct tape after I beveled the edge of the neoprene. I made sure to keep key areas bondable to the hull such as the drive shaft hole, intake grate area, and pump shoe area.

When I reinforce the tray I will put 4 layers of 17oz biax without matting over the new tunnel shape. I can flip it over and cut out the old tunnel and blend the transitions after that to finish it off.

I cleaned up the pump tunnel a little bit and ground off some of the glass that would not lay down up near the front intake grate inserts.

I am actually really pleased with the layup.

Next I am reinfocing the rest of the tray area. Would you guys use a layer of 1708 or 17oz biax with no matting?

No. I haven't removed the old tunnel yet, I was just making sure I have enough material there when I'm grinding to fit the 155 shoe I don't pop through.. I will flip it and cutout the old tunnel, install the shoe and then Fair the tunnel in to match the shoe. All this method did was add the half inch to the radius of the pump tunnel and some extra material Around The Pump shoe area. There may be considerable fairing left but the 155 Pump shoe will dictate that.

I'm not even sure I'm putting the 155 pump in until later in the season. I may just run the old pump tunnel for the moment and know I'm ready to cut it whenever I get to 155 pump sorted and ready to install.

I think two more layers , extend it beyond the chines. When I did mine I did a total of 70oz and went out all the way to the sides. The 17 oz Biax would be nice, you know that's not going to come apart.

I have a few questions about the hood liner. I was planning on doing something like the slutty hood mod.

Does the air hole locations on the back of the hood matter much? I would like to run the vents pretty high on the back corners of the hood but if it takes on more water that way then I would consider lowering them. I will have drains that go to the bottom corners of the hood to empty out any water that gets in to the liner.

I was planning on having two 2" hoses drop between the tank and engine, should I pop a third in there as well?

Thanks.

I'm working on the hood liner now. Got some cardboard (us composites box the resin came in) cut up and position where I want it. The hood liner is going to go all the way to the front but the taper down the edges should keep it pretty well drained. The edges will be the low spot.

How much glass do I have to throw at the hood liner? The hood is already real strong. One layer of 1708 maybe? Would that be too thin?

Your making it look easy! I think one layer is spot on, you could always bulk up the perimeter if you need to later. Really like your work.

Thanks man! I've never done this sort of thing in my life so its good to hear that it looks like im doing a decent job. Honestly I just read this site and watched a lot of videos.

Shoutout to boatworks today, its a boat restoration channel but most of my stuff comes from something he covered. Its really a good resource in my opinion.

The devil is in the details, I look at the parts you make . Your doing great prep, selecting the right materials and putting them together well. And the thing that impresses the most is everything is symmetrical. Patience pays off on these projects your going to have a nice ski that will take a beating when your done. I don't want to put you under the gun but when are you thinking of splashing this ski.
