were you using mold wax on the duck tape when laying glass?
I used carnuba. Worked fine for me.

Was that mock up with the motor in the setback location you made? or in the oem location?
OEM location for now. I plan on moving it back once I build the motor. This is just so that way I can go to Parker Strip and I'm not a hundred percent sure I'm moving the motor back to be frank. It's going to depend on how it handles.

I did a boo-boo and ruined my possibility of bringing the ski with me to Arizona. I did not put an anti-seize on the pole Bolt and when I was going to mock up some stuff the pole bolt got seized in the bracket. I tried Heat on the bracket and ice on the bolt to try to get it to break free and all I did was break the bolt off and leave a piece in the bracket. I'm going to need a new bolt and have a machine shop retap the bracket.
In the interim it is full stop on the build for two weeks while I am in Parker AZ. All I have left is turf.

Thanks for the tip. I am still going to have a blast but I need to walk away from it for the moment. I feel like its fate telling me its not advisable to rush to finish it.
I am back from my trip Parker and the Grand Canyon. Me and my son had a great time even though I didn't get to bring my main ski. I had plenty of tray time on a 650sx and some 4-stroke waverunners my dad has.
Anyways back to the grind, next step is Turf and dropping this off in a machine shop so they can fix the pole bracket. About the turf, I have heard multiple people say you should Turf the sides first. I assume this is so when the foam flexes you don't end up feeling the lower Edge. Any other tips regarding turf?

Are you using black foam or gray? Ive always done all of my padding first. I usually pad the top of my gunwhales with 9mm (really helps the elbows when getting back on) then the tray, then the top and sides of my footholds. I’ll turf the sides then the front, and lastly the tray. As long as you tuck it in tight against the tray foam, and then tuck the turf up tight against the sides, Ive never had a problem with it ever showing bare fiberglass when standing in the tray. I use 26mm black foam on bottom

I have the black soft neoprene. I get it in bulk at a local rubber and gasket supply. I have a yard of half inch and a yard of three quarter. My plan is to make a large kicker out of a few inches of shaped foam where I tend to put my back foot and the main section forward of the kicker will be one and a quarter.
I have been debating padding up and over the gunwales with quarter inch and I may do it to keep from smacking my ankles.
Thanks, being able to do all the foam work first will make it easier.
I've started on the rear kicker that I'm making out of foam. I made a stair step and glued down the sections. I'm going to follow it up with shaping and sanding to get the hump shape that I'm looking for. On top of all of that and the front floor section will be 3/4 neoprene. I think it's about a three and a half inch kicker.

40 grit and an orbital is what I did most of it with. I used the bread knife for the larger sections. I wanted a nice comfy cushion for where I board and a kicker a little bit further forward than most. I may knock a bunch of the back corner off in the morning to make it easier to board and more of a hump, less of a ledge.
