Blaster Rick's Detailed 1100 Blaster Conversion

We use the B2 cable on all of our blasters. I have bent and seen many stock cables bend on limited 701s and if you stick with the stock cable and go 1100/1200, it isn't going to last for $hit. The only thing about the b2 cable is, you have to get an under hood adapter made by NYNJA or Tobek.

It is a mod well worth the money to keep the ski on the water as opposed to working on it.

As for the throttle cable, not sure on the yamaha triple, but on the kawi, you can use it, but you have to make a cable holder for stock carbs. If you have aftermarket 44s/46s, etc, you can just buy a throttle wheel and carb adapter. IMO, better to use the kawi throttle cable as it is a much beefier cable than the stock yamaha b1 cable.

Do yourself a MAJOR favor, DO NOT use the stock steering cable. It will eventually bend and changing it with the 1100 in the hull is a pain in the a$$.

My stock B1 cable bent the second ride with my 1100. B2 cable has been good for 2 years. Tobtek is local and sells the hood bracket for the B2 cable.

We built a stroker b1 for a buddy of mine in Pa. He drove 7 hours down, all jacked up and excited about riding his new baby. He literally pulled it off the trailer, warmed it up in a straight line and took one hard turn...... table bent. And we didn't have another one to throw on. Talk about one unhappy blaster rider, lol. From that point on, it was a absolute must IMO on any blaster build.

I was wondering the same thing and if any of the other yamaha couch models would work because I have a couple raider / venture cables laying around from skis that were stripped

Okay finally back on this build. After waiting two months on the paint, I had to gelcoat the bottom

Because it reminded too much like an Orca......

So I put the pump together using the freeze and heat method since I don't have a press to stamp in the bearings.

First, I took the drive shaft out of the freezer and put some marine grease on the end.

Next I took the bearing out of the convection oven at 250 degrees

Hot bearing slides right onto cold driveshaft. Notice the heat transfer from the bearing thawing the top portion of the shaft. Return the drive shaft and newly installed bearing back into the freezer.

Now take the frozen driveshaft/ bearing assembly and place some grease on the outside portion of the bearing. Dump a bunch of marine grease into the hot drive shaft assembly. Push in the two front seals into the housing. Now slide the driveshaft into the housing.

I did this on a vice so it was holding the pump but allowed a driveshaft to drop in. It also allowed me to once again use a socket to tap in the driveshaft assembly all the way to seated position.

get it running yet? We got our first one done and planning on trying to head down with a couple buddies and ride with all the other 1100 blaster / sxrs on a friday afternoon at fiesta! The thing RIPS! Would love to run our skis back to back to see what that mag pump does for ya!

I'm lagging. I was out of town on vacation and also needed a set of pump mounting bolts ordered. Got them now. Ironically, i was working on it tonight aligning the drive shaft. Its a critical step, otherwise you can break the midshaft or snap the driveshaft. PITA. I might head down to Fiesta on Friday. My superjet had 3 broken motor mounts. Now they are replaced so I need to test run the ski.

Im not riding this weekend but hopefully head down the weekend after...take the b1100 to fiesta friday afternoon and hit oside on the fx1 sat morning

super curious how much of a diff that solas mag makes! I was actually very impressed how well the stock pump worked with the prop dave gave us but I dont have the bottom end completely dialed so well see how the pump reacts once I do. Also very surprised how even my kawi swap and my buddies yam 1100 were!

I'm having an issue with aligning the pump. I finally took off the pro-tec drop nozzle setup and just put on the stock nozzle and steering and it aligned near perfect.

I used shims on the pro-tec setup, but couldn't get it centered. Since I'm using a solas mag pump, I didn't want any alignment issue to negatively effect the bearings.

Any of you out there have experience with the pro-tec setup and alignment?photo 13.JPG
