No part of making a hull is beyond the abillities of an indevidual with a small garage. I would chop an existing hull if all I wanted is a backflip.

Highroller customs/ Team Bill comes to mind. If you don't mind that kind of quality, then I guess most hulls are over-priced.

Don't you also think that pro-engine builders are basically useless?

Im just surprised that hulls are still selling for that much knowing what it takes to build one. R&D has already been done, advertising is free between here and youtube. Then get to choppin and start a build thread. This is a Rickter thread and if you don't like it, then STFU.

your off base a good bit but just getting lost in your wording, but i get what you are saying. while some big $ material hand laid hulls justify their cost, should a glass hull mass produced in Taiwan cost 7k...........when yami somehow manages to sell a rtr sj produced in japan for the same pice..........uh

Really, This is a new hull design. It will take many units sold to break even on the R&D that went into this hull.

Cost of Materials + Cost of Labor = Dead Cost.

What ever you make above that amount is your overhead (Cost of doing buisiness - Taxes, Insurance, Utilities) and Profit (Monies left over after Dead Cost and Overhead are deducted). From that Profit, you have to try and recoup your R&D Time you paid your employees. So, figure in maybe 20% of whatever profit is left. At that rate, it would take alot of units sold to cover that R&D Expenses.

if rrp or any other companies making skis for the cost of sj's then they would be yamaha . the only reason yamaha could do it is because there tooling was spent for several units for the platform and the hull has been nearly unchanged for howmany years now or very suttle changes 20yrs . If freestyle was not to change the hulls but every 20yrs we would all be where we were 10 yrs ago . I think $18k for a ski that will backflip and barrol role is alot farther ahead then if you invested the same money into a sj for flatwater
this may also explain why the last year for sxr will 2011 and sj 2012 because there is so much money in this part of the sport

did anyone post the fuel capacity of this new hull? In the 701 video there is no gas tank, so im assuming the tank is in the firewall. Does an oem tank fit, or is the firewall holding cell standard?

most the one there had 1 gal firewall rrp tanks , but it all depends on your exhaust , you can run oem tank if you chose with b-pipe . if you run dry pipe you can run a jaz tank or firewall tank or some cases maybe both as i suggested to other customers and just run a fuel selector

to play devels advocate here..All this is very true, but the hull is still based on the same shape as the original.the rear and pump sec look very similar to the new lenzi hull so not sure R&D is that huge in this case,so its not like starting from scratch, but props to them for being originators on the 1st fs1 hull, this one has a very sim look, but seriously, the cost of labor and subbing a shop in Taiwan compared to here? 7k for what I read is a blow in chop glass hull with cheap resin that needs reinforcing from day one? We all know how yami did it in a small market thats even smaller now, just a quick example. No one is going to make millions in this business now,but that still doesnt mean RR hulls are not overpriced

not to get all crazy here but most of your information is not correct here
yes they make money when you sell hulls and they also need to allow dealers to make money
but these are not chop gun fiberglass hulls getting blown out for $500 in thailand
noone manufactures a hull that looks as good as rrp including yamaha visual carbon so forth and they do not need to be reinforced when you buy them , this is just what some people are doing as a little extra security for their investment kind of like sj's which rarley crack on the side as well .
also these come with pole bracket $300 hood clips $75 fully turfed which some people charge $800 alone to do , also $300 footholds fully adjustable , and paint and graphics which could be anywhere from $1000-$4500 and also shipping from thailand
all in all not a bad value but to each his own

THATS FUNNY!!!!

Can't believe that thing was able to pull those tricks with a stock 701. A stock 701 is awful! lol That is one amazing little machine right there. 6500 is steep for a hull, but when you consider you can throw in a limited set up that runs on pump gas and do tricks most couldn't do with a XS1000, suddenly, this ski is cheap in comparison to a lot of other options in this sport. At least for flatwater.

But just think about how that hull would feel with a XS1000 pro package if it rides that way with a 701!!!

Man, I can't even imagine, lol. But, I bet you can!

it was very impressive,
but dont forget who was riding it, Rok has a world champion and the legend Rick Roy, they only proved it is possible, but that dont mean that anyone will do it

its like most things though . but i think anyone who has a fair ability and drive should be able to do it after riding for a few weeks . i will let you demo mine when it arrives

Yes. They are around $300 and hold 6 liters (1.5 gallons). Tempted to run one PLUS a kart tank.

Exactly: run a fuel selector and you've get a get-you-home reserve there in the firewall.

Damn, I just got a bonus big enough to buy one of these, so let me see: pay off credit card or buy Rickter hull...? My XS motor sure would look purdy in that. Choices, choices....
