Actually, Motosurf is more closer related to racing.

This is 2003. I believe it actually started in 2002 after the IJSBA National Tour fell apart. It ran for about 2-3 years and was sponsored by Kawasaki for the most part.

There were some epic races there. The Octanes first races were here also.

So, in a nutshell, that phrase is not new and not derived from anybody on this site.

Like someone else said, too much thinking envolved.

I always thought it was Jerry who coined the term “Motosurf”, I can’t remember where I heard that. Whether he did or not isn’t important, his internet mag is really cool. I remember the tour was always referred to as “The water cross tour”. Those were some cool times too. Each round of the tour included both surf races and a Surf Freestyle event together. Back then there were no big HP motors so Surf Freestyle was really cool because it was the only venue were you could see a “BR” They were so new back then the crowd would oooh and aaah every time some one would do one. I was at the round in Ventura when Rick Roy pulled the first “Backie” No one had ever seen anything like that before, no one thought that it was even possible and pretty much everyone’s jaw just hit the floor. For a while after that they called Backies the “Rickter invert” All aspects of the sport, Racing, Freestyle and Surf Riding have come a long way

Those do sound like good memories…thanks for sharing, sincerely.

To address your original post, I believe you have been on this message board long enough to realize, after due thought, what I say is highly, likely true...it shall cause more harm than good within this network to create the section, sadly.

Knowing you, I do not believe you would wish to be responsible for such, and I sincerely hope that not another soul would wish to be either, for I think it would be selfish, as well as an injustice to all.

Not sure what year they started using the "Watercross Nationals" name. I know they used it in 2000 & 2001 seasons. My 2nd race on a stand up was at the 1st round of the tour in Ft Walton.

If you go back and look at old footage of Malone from 1999-2000 or other pro's from that time and watch their routines. Funny thing is that several amature and novice pros now do more difficult tricks. The motor sizes and technology has really progressed the sport.
Oh Damn, did I just call this a "Sport".

Yup.

#1 i always find it funny when people argue about things they know nothing about..

#2 stan..have u learned to swim yet?

..that is all

I always find it funny when people make comments without any facts backing up their comments

Also when they get their feathers ruffled and take their toys and run home.

I stand corrected.

I guess Jerry has a case against the cell phones using this same name!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup on the Cannondale, Think the bike companies had to drop labeling their bikes as "Freeride" and they started using "All Mountain and Trail Bikes". I had forgotten about that.

And yes, JFB is a hell of a rider.
