I vote the second option....

only because I have finals the week after the first option..... I'm guessing all the riders who are still in school wont be able to make the first one..... I don't really know if thats a lot of us to matter though????

i think it does, as i have seen it mentioned alot, i know if it were the earlier date that would take 5-7 people out who would be coming with me.

GA DNR has made it clear that we are not welcome at Lanier, and that is a pretty strong indication that we would not be welcome at Altoona either.

Martin is a beautiful lake with about 42,000 acres (correct me if I am wrong) with plenty of room so that we don't have to compete with bass fishermen and rec. boaters for space. AL marine police are even offering to designate a space for us.
We only have to travel about 3 hours to Altoona- not that big of a drive, but what about the people who travel a long distance to Altoona only to be constantly harrassed by GA DNR? That's going to SUCK.
Just my 2 cents.

well, how far apart are they? i know if the pigs give us a hassle in one city down here in FL, the pigs in the next city arent aware of it.

Lake Martin:woot: :arms: :woot: :arms:

It's a really nice lake and I've always had good luck with the Marine Patrol there. It's only about 30min from my school so thats where I do most of my riding when I'm up at school.

Lake Martin would be perfect for those of you looking for a good party scene at night because Auburn is only about 30min away depending on what side of the lake we're on. For those of you that don't know about Auburn it's a typical college town with a pretty good bar scene.

I had to throw this in there for Harrison. Come on down and check out a real college with a real football team.:Banane26:

Hey Dan, I have been to Auburn before, what is the eating place right by the campus that is famous, cant remember the name, been about 16 years.......

My vote is Lake Martin.....

I have been using allatoona for years. There used to be this island called "jetski island" (it was really a peninsula) across from little river marina, where jetski's would run bouys in a cove, and you could pull your car right down to the beach. They chained off the entrance so people would have to pay to use the lake at the public ramp. but the moral of the story is, nobody ever got hassled by the DNR, they are really really cool guys even to standup riders.

And the area that we are riding at is large enough with multiple marina's around for cruisers. And just a short jetski ride away is allatoona's version of 'cocktail cove'

i miss the days of jetski island. thats what got me into stand ups. but the dnr didnt really care about it the only thing i remember towards the end they asked everyone to wear helmets who ran the course that was about it. Teh reason they chained the day use park off though wasnt so you had to pay it was because of some vilence that had been going on at night there. atleast thats what i was told by a local deputy. but my vote is for allatoona cuz finals are the first week of may.

I like the idea of a Designated riding area, but I like the later dates too.

I guess my question is what kinda laws does GA have pertaining to PWC's?

Is there anyone that rides altoona on a regular basis? If riding at a safe distance and away from boats, will they mess with you when you freestyle?

Allatoona 100%. Early date would make it tough for me and my buddies to come due to exams. And its almost 2 hours closer...easier on the wallet:biggrin:

I just looked at my school schedule and my exams for my AP class is like the friday before the lake martin date. Allatoona would be MUCH better and its 3 hours closer
waah waah waah

I can do a 3 hour drive in my sleep. Consider that there is a chitload of people that have to drive a very long way to attend this event - so nut up and drive 2 or 3 hours to get there.

I trust you guys will pick the most trouble free spot... Just pick it and roll w/ it. I really don't think it helps to ask people questions like this on a public forum.

All you get are biased OPINIONS based upon speculation and BS...

We'll It might be different if there are hundreds of jetski's in allatoona, but I have never had a problem with DNR. We even had jetski racing with bouys and they didnt care. I rode by a DNR guy and he was on his ski in a cove and I had no registration numbers (i just got my sj) and he just waved and said be careful.

This may be biased but this is my personal experience with allatoona.
