Hey Dan, I have been to Auburn before, what is the eating place right by the campus that is famous, cant remember the name, been about 16 years.......

My vote is Lake Martin.....

I believe you're thinking of Mama Goldbergs. It's been there 25 years and by far has the best sandwiches in the south. In fact I just had lunch there yesterday.

Are there any restrictions at either site you know what I mean? WINK WINK

Do they put the sites on lockdown in the evening?

at Lake Martin they will give us a place to ride that is dedicated just to us, no restrictions on riding inside that "ZONE". Those are the only restrictions that matter.

not sure on everything about Altoona, go back to the first post.

I trust you guys will pick the most trouble free spot... Just pick it and roll w/ it. I really don't think it helps to ask people questions like this on a public forum.

All you get are biased OPINIONS based upon speculation and BS...

I agree. I understand a few of us have exams the weekend of the Lake Martin option, but if Lake Martin is going to actually give us a designated riding spot then I think that is a HUGE selling point. Not to mention Lake Martin is a really nice lake. Definitely one of the cleaner one's for sure.

I also have Final Exams that Wed, Thurs, and Sat, but I just think Lake Martin would be a better option for everyone as a whole.

It really sucks that some people can't make it that weekend, but I'm sure there will also be some people that can't make it to the Alatoona weekend either.

It really should come down to what is the best spot and what spot will be most accomodating to the riders.

That's my $.02:biggthumpup:

You said it.
Paul and Kathy, you guys probably know more details than we do. So, pick the one you have the best feeling about and lets do it. It looks like everyone from GA is saying Allatoona, everyone from AL is saying Martin, and everyone else is saying the one that will fit into there personnal schedules. You can't please everyone. But with that said I would say Allatoona because it will be warmer (later date and shallower lake) and it is 5 mins. from my house.

Cool if that’s the only restriction we need to be concerned about and it is taken care of that will be great and we can come and go as we please? :woot:

Now what are the restrictions in GA.?

its not the best option for kids in college. or for people coming from up north, i will be driving either 13 hours to allatoon or close to 16 hours for lake martin. i see you live in AL which is fine because you can leave the lake and go back home and study, but for me it wouldnt even be an option. if the event ends up at lake martin at the dates in the first post there will be no way i would be able to make it, which sucks cause i have a build off boat going....plus the second option is closer to summer which will make it hopefully warmer:biggthumpup:

Hey that means less competition for me right?:pokey:

I say we do a poll just so we know who can or cannot make it on the given dates and who wants to go where.

wedoseadoo....how are the water temps that early on in al. That would be my only concern.

I'll start riding Lake Martin in March. It will definitely be chilly in March, but as long as it's warm outside and I have a wetsuit I'll be fine.

Come May Lake Martin will be PLENTY warm enough.

I agree it sucks that some people especially some college students can't make those dates, but there are also people that can't make the Alatoona date either (i.e. the racers looking to hit that race thats on that weekend).

Personally I wish we could have it at Lake Martin later on in the month, but thats not possible. I won't ride until I am completely done with exams which will be Saturday afternoon so it kind of sucks for me also.

I just think that the location should be picked as to which one will be the most accommodating to our entire group. Heck if Lake Allatoona turns out to be just as accomodating as Lake Martin and is as nice as Lake Martin then my vote is for Lake Allatoona so my exams don't interfere with the ride.

However, if it's much more difficult for the organizers to do one or the other, that plays a big factor too.

if it comes down to it i will drive down and ride just on saturday and then leave saturday night and make the 16 hour trip back, normally i wouldnt think about doing that but i put to much time and extra money into my ski for the buildoff.... but hopefully with some luck they make it allatoona.
